Good idea! I'll try that, thanks!Haven't seen anything. But you can always email RCI and ask if they plan on doing a Labor Day sale. I did this for 4th of July and they said no but they did give me a 10% off coupon code. So I bought some skids. Black Friday is your best bet for anything more than that.

Hoping for LFD sale for Labor day! Want to buy their skids plus side rails.
Any reason why not very many folks have LFD skids compared to RCI?

Nobody really knows about LFD. They don't really have a presence. RCI is everywhere.
People are sheep, they buy what youtubers, and instagram kids use because they beat it into your head daily.
If LFD would ever answer my email about their aluminum skid being wide or standard (photo shows both, description says nothing about either) i would buy an aluminum wide skid.

LOL yesss! that is why i see a bunch of RCI skid YT vids but barely any LFD.
I am waiting on a response to my email questions as well. Typically, they have been quick to answer emails/questions so thinking they may be swamped right now.

RCI sells a great product at a good price. Unlike other companies that shake you down for every penny in your pocket, long lead times and subpar products. Some might argue that they don’t offer enough protection, but honestly nobody will ever wheel their 5th gen hard enough to need any more protection than RCI provides.

Also, San Diego Represent!! lol
For what it's worth, a local shop here ordered a full set of Al RCI skids for me on June 29 this year. I was aiming to have them well in advance of a trip to Colorado I'm taking September 2 (and lead time was quoted as 2 to 3 weeks). Consider it an insurance policy if I want to run some slightly more aggressive trails out there.
Long story short, the skids are supposed to ship this Friday, August 28, nearly 9 weeks after my order was placed and will miss my trip.
I'm sure I'll still be happy with the product, but given their reputation, I'm kind of floored that they missed their estimated lead time by a factor of 3 to 4x. Yes, COVID has messed stuff up, but still...

Couldn't agree more. I've beat on those aluminum skids a few times and they are doing just fine.
Mine too. I have hit the skids on several occasions and no problems. I don't hit them enough to warrant steel. Gas tank skid I put on last but on a recent trip I banged it so I would say get a gas tank skid if you haven't done it. RCI has good customer service. If you get them directly from them their powdercoat is excellent. Beware of a 3rd party selling them. And the reason I didn't get LFD, I didn't know they had skid plates when I bought RCI. In fact they may haven't even come out back when I ordered. I definitely would have considered them though.
