so my led tail lights are coming in tomorrow and im SO excited,

i just dont like the way the red stands out on the desert dune color

i dont know if anyone around here has heard of this stuff called laminx but its pretty cool for accenting lights and what not.

i dont want the lights to be too dark to attract tickets, and i want the red to still appear through the tint a little bit(hard to explain)

so i have narrowed it down to the gunsmoke and smoked films, PLEASE HELP ADVISE ME!!!

Smoked for sure, let me know how this stuff works and take a lot of pics for me! I might get it for my tails, I'm afraid to niteshade them, I can see myself messing up.

Gunsmoke is the lightest
Smoked is medium dark
And Charcoal is blacked out.. haha that's what I'd get! But definitely get Smoked.

It's an adhesive like 3M clearbra. Just tinted clear sheets of plastic.

IMO, the red is fine on Desert Dune and any other color. It's a brake light. It's supposed to be red.

I really like how "crisp" they perform. I can't really find a better word for it. The seamless transition from on to off is what makes them popular I think. And that Lamin-X stuff says 95% of the light is still let through, meaning you're losing very little light output. and I believe LED's are brighter than normal bulbs as well

you may want to check with a state inspector to see if they should produce a certian amount of lumens (light output), while the light is lit. as long as you have that than the cops shouldnt care if you have purple with pink polka dots. if you have the right color and brightness everyone should be happy.

Because even with the darkest tint on your LED tail lights you can still tell it's LED when you hit the brake, LED's are so bright, they are going to shine threw no matter what. Where as regular tail lights with indacanescent bulbs can barely be seen, Especially in the daytime when you have tinted tails. That's why, if you want to tint your tails, you should get LED's. They are brighter and will shine bright threw the tint that regular indacanescent bulbs will.
