Probably largely due to the newer crop of buyers who chase the latest tech all the time. Transportation is often the second or third reason some folks buy a vehicle these days.

Some of us just want a good vehicle to drive.

And a CD player.

LIke I said over here in this thread it seems like there is a lot of confusion at the top of Toyota's SUV offerings.

Who would pay $85k for a LC when you could get a Sequoia for $65k? Maybe someone who is well off and knows vehicles but most likely at those price levels the market for the LC I see is wealthy “Country Club Bob” or “LPGA Mary” types and not off road enthusiasts. If you want luxury and “status” then I see people buying the GX. You can get them for a lot less than the LC. I dont really consider Lexus a “status” vehicle anyhow. MB G wagon, here seem to be driven buy Russian “gangster” wanna-be’s or immigrant nouveau riche. That’s not the kind of status I’m interested in. They are definitely not off road types.

Honestly, for durability and quality, I don't really see the Sequoia on par with either of the others. I think there is definitely a premium on long term reliability with vehicles built in Japan vs America, regardless of the badge stuck on them. Maybe it's just my perception though.

LC is all about durability, reliability, and strength as quoted by LC engineer above. It is about capability and comfort rolled in one.

I'm guessing few realize the potential of the platform, designed to last 25 years without major issue.

As of today (10/25/20), there are only 4 LC available on eBay for the years 2016-2020. And they are very overpriced!

On LC forums, it is nearly impossible to find a good one at decent price.

So, the scalping has started....

I wouldn't doubt it. This is my first Toyota, prior to that, I've had mostly GM full size SUV's and trucks, in 23 years, I had one catastrophic failure. I thrashed my HD rearend Eaton E-locker due to my own stupidity. Fact is, if they weren't so expensive, I would have had another Yukon rather than my 4R.
