Land Rover seats in a 4Runner?

Has anyone attempted putting Land Rover seats in a 4Runner? I had a discovery at one point and I was really fond of the seats.

My concerns would be that the Land Rover seats are powered and I do not have power seats in my runner. I've read a few write ups on adding OEM power seats from a limited to an sr5, but if I could find manual Land Rover seats and find a way to wire in the seat belt warning on the driver side, this would be a cool mod.

Any ideas on how to get the mounting brackets to match up for someone with limited (aka zero) welding capabilities?

Adding electrical circuits is relatively easy, but you will need to do some research on the Rover circuits on your own.

You could probably bolt together some adaptation, I know I could do it, but I wouldn't. Simple is better, if I couldn't weld I'd cut fit and test, then take it to someone to weld.

I'm curious about something, why do you list vehicles you've sold in your signature line?
 
I can say the Disco II seats won't fit, at least not with the arm rests on them. Some of the Disco's have center counsel mounted controls which would be a pain to adapt. I know the Freelander seats had a manual option, and some of the Disco's were manual as well. The Disco seats are going to cost quite a bit unless you find one at a junk yard. Freelander seats are pretty cheap, and pretty easy to find.

If you're going to adapt electric for the seats. You might as well go ahead and add the seat warmers too.

Luckily being in a junk yard is something land rovers are good at ;) I loved the hell out of my discovery but they just don't last like a 4runner

It's all how you maintain them. Disco's need a lot more attention than our 4runners do. If they're maintained they'll last a long time, and the drivetrain is nearly bomb proof. I have a Disco II, and I'm still learning about attention they need. Stupid little things go wrong, and if they're not fixed they cause bigger issues.

Someone on here a couple months ago put some Disco II seats in their 3rd Gen. I can't find the thread right now, but I'll look for it.

Went to the junk yard to look for some land rover seats and in the process, I ran across a manual '96 Discovery with 453,000 miles on it. needless to say, the seats in this one had a well defined a** print in them. haha
 
I had an '04 Disco II, loved it until the the engine overheated after the electric fan went out. Rebuilt the head and sold it. Just didn't trust it anymore.

Anyway the seats were the best I've ever sat in. Thick heavy leather on firm seats. I'd think fitting them to a 4Runner would be beyond difficult.

Would a later model year 4Runner or even LC maybe fit right in? I've thought about it as my drivers seat has a bit of sag, no heat, and isn't as firm as I'd like... Somebody probably has put later model ones in.

Moral of today's visit to the junkyard--size-wise, land rover seats will fit. Logistically, it is so painful, it's not worth it. I looked for an old land cruiser, and even some Lexus SUVs, but didn't find anything that was simple. The easiest was putting seats from a montero in. But now I'm just looking into re-upholstering them.
