I had my winshield replaced on my '99 LandCruiser after taking a big hit from a rock off the highway. The guys said that the old windshield was "glued on" and that they had never seen this before. They also said that some of the windshield side trim molding would be damaged during the removal of the old glass. The new shield was installed...and had considerable wind noise as a result. I took it back and they re-set the shield...and the wind noise is still there. Is there something different...or extra...that Toyota does with their windshield? Was the "glue" a seal of some sort? Am I stuck with this noise now? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did the Toyota dealership do it or was it a separate glass company?? I would take your TLC into the dealership for them to take a look at it...and also gives you a chance to look at the other TLCs on the lot to compare.
I had my Corolla windshield replaced by an independent shop. It was a fairly simple exchange with new trim and black paste/glue (both standard stuff). No new noise afterwards.

Land Cruiser windshield
I had my '94 cruiser's windshield replaced by an indenpendent shop for about one third the cost of the dealership. In realty, it is the shop that the dealership uses and doesn't tell you they sent your vehicle out for the repair. Anyway, they replaced the glass and the rubber molding which they also glued in. Seems the glue destroys the
original rubber when removing the broken glass making. The shop would not let me drive the cruiser for 24 hours while the glue was seting up. I have not had one bit of wind noise since the replacement. I think I would go back and make them redo the glue job.
