Latest nav update?

I have a 2003 4runner. Does anybody know what the latest version dvd works in this system?? The dealership wont give me any info..4.1--3.1???

Can anyone tell me what the part number for that 4.1 Nav update is? i got one off ebay but it didn't work in my 4Runner and the dealer will not give me any info. Thanks for the help.

This is the latest update that will work in an 03 4runner. 00125-DVD04-CY. The new one will be out in Oct.

Nick thanks but i can't find anything with those types of numbers. i'm finding stuff that looks like this

what i'm looking for are these numbers or the factory part number. Thanks for your help.

I checked my map DVD this morning and it's 4.2. This is an 05 Limited. Not sure if this helps at all.

Can we answer the question that keeps coming up about Navigation Updates?
What is the determining information that will tell us which generation of Nav do we have?
Generation 3 or 4.

What I have determined from this forum and others is that during
2004 Toyota change models of Navigation systems for the 4Runner.

2003 4Runners are Generation 3
2004 4Runners can be Generation 3 or Generation 4.

The DVD version numbers seem to correspond to the Generation number.
Version 3.x for Generation 3 and Version 4.x for Generation 4.
The x part reflects the yearly release version of the data.
3.1 would be Generation 3 release 1
3.3 would be Generation 3 release 3
4.3 would be generation 4 release 3

I saw a post that indicated someone had tried 4.3 on a generation 3
and it did not work. He tried 3.3 and it worked fine.

So what determines the change to generation 4?
Most answer this by saying you need to call the dealer.
Can we find a date and compare it to the VIN?
Or
Can we determine the generation by the "GPS Information"
in diagnostic mode?

Disk Info
Denso
AFUS:2.3D,AGUS:2.3D

Another peace of information... In the 2004 4Runner Repair
Manual it refers to "Diagnostics - Navigation System (From August 2003)"
Do you think the date to compare to the VIN Date is August 2003?

I should have been more specific when I said the "VIN date".
What I really mean is the Production date on the VIN tag in the Driver door frame.

The DVD is :

Data Ver.03.1
Big letter D next to above.

There aren't any colored dots.
I did see a picture of the colored dots you are talking about on a EBay picture.

I have an 03 with the 10 CD Navi. If I understand this thread correctly, the new update changes it to 1 DVD? Has anyone made the switch? Are there any differences?

So the bottom line is, for my early 04 4Runner running the 3.2 DVD it came with............ buy the 00125-DVD04-CY DVD online, eject your old DVD, insert the new one and away you go, up-to-date and happy! Right?

Sorry for the delay, I was in Asia. Yes Get the map upgrade 00125-DVD04-CY DVD. I got mine on Ebay for $ 130.00 It was new still sealed in the case. I ejected the old one, put the upgrade DVD in and the DVD upgraded the maps. It took me several months to find the MAP UPGRADE. I bought several that were not compatible before I found the right one.

My maps are now current to Dec of 04.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if the colors will change, as I have been told in another thread that my colors (light tan etc) are not the "new ones). Also apparently there are different NAV units, some say 1700 on the front and some say 1703 or something on the front and have the buttons named differently. Anyway, I think I will buy mine from a dealer online for $230, saves the trouble of you went through getting the wrong ones.

Thanks. Since they seems to come out every November/Decmeber I am waiting until Dec 05 for the next update. No sense in getting the 04 update when I can wait a few months and get the next years update.

So I have noticed taht every year around december the new NAV DVD comes out. I want to wait for the 05 update to come out before buying one, rather tahn get an 04 update in october only to see the 05 come out in december. Any thoughts on when it might come out?

I just ordered mine from the dealer today. 250 plus tax and 8 dollars for second day delivery. I have a 2003 4runner limited with a GEN 3 Navigation system.

That is great news. Please post the version you have once you get it. I am waiting for the 05 version to come out. I know the 04 has been out for a while and thoguht the 05 would be out any time now.
