Is this a question about the front or rear suspension?

Front. I’m curious what you did to clear the fenders with 35’s on a +2. I may go a similar route, or even 34’s, and want to avoid fiberglass so trying to get an idea of what’s necessary.

I figured extended bump stops might be needed, couldn’t tell if you were running those or cleared with just trimming.

Extended bump stops diminish travel, and at that point one must ask...what's the point?

Well, in a way, overall performance would be dependent on what the system is designed to achieve. Either way not the question I’m asking! I’ll assume you’re running factory length bumps up front. Thanks again.

There’s no two ways about it. You’re either getting the full travel or you’re reducing potential travel and that’s pointless. You’re meant to run the stock bumps.

But the actual bump stops on my system are the triple bypasses.

The longer I stair at the photo the more confused I become, what is going on at the bottom of your doors? Is there a black strip? Is that the road reflecting......maybe just my brain functioning on minimal sleep (due a 7wk old)

Have you seen photos of the truck on the past few pages? The lower door question would be answered.

Meh, It doesn't look right without the obligatory "finger selfie" over the license tag.
Nice angle on the speed pic though, the gleam of the headlights came out really good! Truck looks amazing as always.

Simply put: sorry guys, I’m keeping my 4Runner. You’ll have to put up with me for a lot longer. I’m not bailing.

Good to hear! I haven't been on here in forever, traded my T4R in for a 2016 F250 if you remember. After driving the Raptor a bunch I wasn't impressed anymore either, just kinda "Meh", and I hate that new interior. However, I love my F250, although I cannot do half the off-roading the 4runner does, it is a great long distance surf trip vehicle and I use it for work too. Once I retire next year I may go smaller, but Im sure glad I didn't buy the Raptor.

Not entirely sure, I think I'd be marginally happier with the Ford. I think what is kinda soul killing is just dealing with all the LITTLE issues with how much it's modified, the electrical issues, maintenance, all the stuff from parts that were never really meant to play together.

Right now I've been dealing with a driveline issue, and it's been 3-4 times to a service bay and after 1.5 months we've finally nailed it down to the U-Joints going bad in the rear of the propeller shaft.

I don't know if I'd be radically happier in a Raptor, but I am mainly kinda exhausted dealing with this thing.

This sounds like a good reason to keep a 4Runner as stock as possible. Wasn't it you that said the only things that broke in Baja were aftermarket parts?

Granted, stock would not be as awesome as your 4Runner nor as capable.

Half my truck is now aftermarket parts. That's the rub.

Frankly if I was going to build a raptor I'd keep it extremely tame as far as upgrades go, because it's very very easy to ruin a raptor visually and functionally.

I was trying to think of a witty post title, but I couldn't think of any.

So after 3.5 years of building my vehicle, lots and lots of mods, some amazing trips, write ups, tutorials, and meeting a ton of you guys locally and along the road, I wanted to announce the 4Runner is officially sold and on it's way to it's new life in one of the fly-over states.

This has been in motion for the past month, and I was given an offer on it I would have been daft to have passed up. I'm moving on to a 2018 Supercrew Raptor, which is something I've wanted for a long time, a very long time.

I'll still drop in to answer whatever technical questions I can about the 4Runner I built. But I sincerely wanted to thank everyone who helped with the build, loved seeing it, even those who didn't like it, it was still a fun ride.

Noticed your solar panels in one of your beautiful shots there (almost like you've had some practice with cameras or something... j/k) and am wondering what type of system you use if you do in fact have a solar generator system? Thanks!
