Cool, it should be sitting on all 4s later today. So the critical part is breaking in the gears. I'd love to do some trails but the first 150 miles it has to be really treated with kid gloves, then the other 350 are just freeway miles while I drive around ABQ. So while I want to do trails, I can't do anything till we're outside that break in period.

But glad you got to see the rig. It'll be a beast.

You should re-create an episode of Breaking Bad and follow the series of events driving around the NM area. Maybe to where the famous RV crash was or something. Seems like a good way to break something in....

Not that it matters, but is there a purpose in mind for such an all out build? Such as a planned epic offroad trip to South America? Or are you doing it just because it's pure badass? Just wondering:becky:

A little bit of buttoning up on the right side. Then finishing up the left. Body mounts get chopped and boxed, and rear is regeared. Should be on the ground tomorrow.

Walt wants to get her into alignment on Thursday so he can put 150 miles on it this weekend around town before I fly in on Monday.

I actually have a better response to this besides "because I can." Which is really "Because I wanted to and did."

Honestly I've had a lot of people ask me what the end goal is for this truck. There isn't. I have some more stuff to do to it in november:

-Heavy Duty Rotors and Pads
-Rigid Ignite undercarriage lights for camping
-Upgrade my WARN Zeon 8S to the 10S Platinum now that my truck is a fat fatty.

Then move on to my XV3 trailer in the fall/early spring. My truck will actually be in a magazine in November, and sadly super duper out of date since the photos were from the spring and not post-long travel.

I've had people ask me if I'll be doing some form of Overlanding content creation, and the answer is sort of. I think everyone is scrambling to ride the coattails of Expedition Overland, and that's not what I want to do. I'd rather bring to bear my skills as a filmmaker and editor to a different angle of overlanding beyond the normal travelog style.

But the truck was built by my money, not sponsored, for the sake of scratching an itch and forcing myself to want to travel more. Pretty much as simple as that.

I'll be there for sure. I sorta realized that you can still go even if you don't go as part of the official summit. It's what Sackwear and TAV LLC did, which was just doing their own runs and hanging out with the main event. If I can go officially I will again. It's just that the registration process was so fubar this year.

Really? That's good to know! I can never register early cause I never know that far ahead what my work travel schedule will be. I may just drag my tear drop over the Rockies next year and finally make one!

Yep, that's what we do. I usually try and hit the tail end of the event just to see some other cool yotas on the trails, but then also have 1-2 days where it's not as busy up there.

The registration is a mess, and I think I'll go for sure, but go with Tim from Sackwear and Walt from TAV. And just get a place in Mountain Village or even Ouray.

I do think it's worth going but i was waitlisted despite signing up less than a minute from registration starting, and all the trail runs I could select were pretty easy and not the ones I wanted nor at the times I would have liked.

And as long as you're not driving a ford raptor you can certainly share the trails with official FJS runs at the same time.

So at 11:30 last night I got a text from Walt that was basically, "I got it on the ground, it looks awesome, I'm going to bed. I'm very tired."

He sent along some dark photos, and it looks epic, but I want to wait till i get some better photos before posting.
