Still waiting on ARB to release that snorkel for the 5th gen 4Runner!

I contacted them a few days ago. They said they're still on track to release the snorkel by end of Q1 2017. So sometime around 2020 probably

LawnDart your rig is looking great. Would love to meet you again, hopefully we can get something going sometime.

Just a quick question.

I too am looking at fixing the lean I have with my rig. I have looked at CSS and would get the following specs with their springs:
➢ Load 1,050 lbs
➢ Load Height 13 ½
➢ Rate 240/300 lbs variable
➢ Free Height = 18”"
Diameter: .671
Free height 18"
7.625 total coils
Variable rate spring 240lbs / 300lbs

You are saying your springs would be a 600lb. Is that the variable rate spring weight?

I don't know a lot about spring rates, etc. Any feedback would be appreciated.

See you around.

Doug

Yes, it's a variable rate spring, again however keep in mind I carry a LOT of weight in the rear, on top of a long travel suspension, so mine is kind of the outlier in terms of "rigs to ask questions about"

Understand. Appreciate the feedback!

Are you by chance in Burlington Tower? My parents lived there a few years back and your garage looks similar to theirs.

I have about .5-.75 degrees of lean.

See the photo below. Don't look at the black water pipe as level, it's not. Look at the slats on the wall behind it, it's a tiny bit low on the drivers side, but not terribly. With long travel being such a soft suspension it accentuates how bad the weight distribution is on the stock 4Runner, i.e fuel tank, battery, steering column, etc.

What we've figured out is that stronger rear springs are the solution, so we have some custom made Prado 150 600# 3" lift springs coming, that should support the back end better, which should help lift up the back end uniformly, thus allowing us to raise the front coilovers, and even out the lean and make it dead level.

We're taking the middle/right rear seats. I'm leaving the left rear seat so I can still have two passengers. And I'd want to look over my shoulder to the right to see her anyways.

Well now finally I know what mine would look like side by side to yours...thanks for the ol kick in the nuts! :jaw:  :yield:

So... another question on your rear bumper. How much weight have you put on that second hitch? You mentioned the camera gimbal but with your equipment i imagine that could be a relatively heavy load.

I've talked to CBI about it and I'm not sure it'll work for my needs. I'm debating on whether it might make sense to get it as a "just in case" feature, but it's a $200 premium. My thinking is that for a fully loaded rack I'd use the primary hitch but when it's just me maybe that's light enough to use the on-arm receiver. My primary concern is that the torsional stress would be too much for the tubing and will rack the arm.

Unless the bike weighs a ton I doubt it'd crack. TAVLLC has welded 2" hitches on to CBI bumpers before, and the guy who uses that setup has put 2 fully loaded mountain bikes on it. Let me see if I can find a photo.

Ah yeah here you go:
