Who are you kidding, you know you're getting that snorkel, as am I.
I have steel RCI skids I'd probably go aluminum if I were buying today, but really for weight reduction and no other reason.

I'd love to keep the factory plate if someone makes a set of plates that are compatible, but I also worry the factory plate isn't nearly as good as the aftermarket aluminum plates.
And yes I want an off-road trailer, XVenture trailers are made down the road at 99 West Trailers. I really want one so I can put a CVT or Tepui tent on one.

Haha. You win. I'll likely install the snorkel. It's just such a commitment to do so. But it is useful. I need to do the diff breather mod soon too.

Oh awesome. The question becomes is the TRD plate worth keeping.
So here's my plan for the next upgrades, likely in november/december:
1. Dual Battery
2. ARB Dual Compressor
3. Pocket Fender Flares (Bushwacker says before end of summer)
4. Diff Breather Mod
5. RCI Skid plates
Now here's where I open up to suggestions:
1. Snorkel? I know it'd be useful, but is it useful enough to justify? Can you add a pre-filter to the 5th gens instead?
2. CBI rear bumper. I'd love to have a full 33" spare tire. As far as I know the 33" won't fit in the underside spare wheel well (is that confirmed?). But i'd be adding a lot of weight and adding a lot of length in the process, which when you live in the city is sort of a drag

How close are you to an offroad trailer? I'd rather run the 2nd battery in a tongue box inside an offroad trailer. I would also put the compressor into the trailer and have it somewhat portable.
Diff mod sounds good, and so do RCI skid plates (aluminum versions). If you actually use your 4runner a lot, all that extra weight is going to make it suck. Suck in the sense that the handling will be even worse, the acceleration and braking. Plus even worse MPG.

At least 6-9 months out from a trailer. I have to figure out where I could store it since I live in the city.
It may make sense to just armor some specific areas, but yes the mpg hit is a concern. I know I want to do the bumper for sure, still not sure about the snorkel. Can you put a pre filter in the 5th gen?

In adding a lift, roof rack, different tires, sliders, and steel skids I lost about 1mpg. I drive pretty mellow though and maybe I became easier on the gas pedal post install. FWIW. Now I'll see what the duratracs do in a few weeks when a I get those on but don't expect much given the weights of current tires.

Had some custom bicycle 'top tube' covers made, which with the GOBI rack not being wide enough to fit the maxtraxx boards in sideways, now sit on the rack. The covers keep it from being boards on metal tubes, so sound reduction is nice. I had them turned longways, but am going sideways to get more of the rack back.
I'm debating removing the rotopax fuel tanks since the CBI bumper will have a 5gallon jerry can on the back.
Either I'll remove them and move the boards forward, or replace them with water canisters.
I thought I could get a dual battery and ARB dual chamber compressor in the engine bay, no luck. So I'm thinking I'll just upgrade the battery and mount the air compressor.
So I'm going to do Dually lights in the bumper. I'm also debating adding a 20" light bar in the grill.
Thoughts?
