LawnDart's Build Thread

Are they real screws or just for show? I was planning to dip them if they are plastic...

They're real, they're metal, just go to your local hardware store and buy some anodized screws in the same size/pattern. They're purely cosmetic.

Shouldn't cost you more than 3-4 dollars for a set of them.

Dont know which puck you had in mind, but I am going with a Dual XGPS160($150 Amazon) which is the wireless/bluetooth model. The XGPS150($82) is alot cheaper, just have to wire it. There is a XGPS170 with ADS-B,but unless your a pilot, I dont see the need. They work on the ground just as well as in the air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEgycYRJXEk For me,the less wires in the cab,the better. I have a mini Ipad as well and am doing the RAM mount. I think I'm going to mount it just above the NAV screen over the clock recess.

Thanks for this. I'm in the process of setting up my Ipad mini as a navigation device for my KLR 650 and my TRD Pro, with the ability to swap it back and forth. I think the XGPS160 will be very valuable.

Yep, takes US and Russian GPS sats.

I need to install mine this weekend.

I'd like to be able to switch the puck back and forth as well, without wires everywhere. I'll have to figure out power and mounting solutions. I'm using the lifeproof case and cradle, and the RAM mount, and I'll just switch from the arm mounted on the bike and in the truck. Cigarette power adapter will work, but isn't ideal.

Sorry for sidetracking the conversation. Amazing 4Runner dude...inspiring.

Thanks. This is useless without pics, but here goes:

So here's an open ended question:

I'm getting some rubbing between the contact points on the CBI bumper, where the swing arm latches to the bumper body.

We've put some 3M XPEL in there, but because of the latch it really doesn't look all that great because of the friction that's created.

Has anyone with a similar bumper found a better solution? I'm considering removing the XPEL, cleaning up the two surfaces, and trying some of this, purely on the contact surfaces:

Danke. So here it is with the bumper.

Such a sick build, thanks for the inspiration. When you considered the CBI Rear bumper, at any point did you think about painting it (at least the actual bumper itself) to match the inferno color?

I am strongly considering ordering the same bumper but without the tire carrier and swing out and was wondering how it would look painted to match the car. I don't suppose you would know how to photoshop your pic to show the bumper portion in inferno? Keep up the great work.

No, paint matching was never on the plate, it's going to get dragged across rocks, and the nice thing about this not being a mall crawler is that you can just mask off the area and hit it with some satin black primer, and move on.

I'm not a fan of paint matched fenders of bumpers. Breaking up the Inferno/Red helps the look of the vehicle. That's why the fender flares and eventually the Pelfrey bumper will help the look of the vehicle. It'll be a mix of black and Inferno, not all one color.

I also didn't want to make the vehicle look too decked out, as I feel it's too easy to go overboard with lights and whatnot.

Been eyeing this bumper for awhile, but not quite ready for it yet. chudiddy CBI is currently offering 12% off
