LawnDart's Build Thread

I'm an ******* in some posts if you dig hard enough. But thanks.

My truck is in the 503 Motoring booth, so it's next to Teslas, Lambos, Ferraris, etc, which at first I was thinking, "ugh I'm the cheapest one here!"

But the cool thing is that the 4Runner is also unique in that people who walk by it more often than not can say, "I could actually afford this, I could build this within my means!" Which is a neat concept. I doubt I'll own a Lambo or Ferrari in my lifetime, but whatever, it's still an amazing purchase in the Toyota.
As we all are...
I wish it were closer, I'd come see it. And while your truck may be the cheapest one there, IMO it offers the richest experience. I admit those other cars are nice and I'd drive one, but those vehicles are about being seen - and frankly, yours is about not being seen and getting out and seeing. Anyway, great job!

Danke! It's been a fun one. Now I'm trying really hard NOT to buy a Ford Focus RS. Good lawd...that gives me the vapors!

Really like the front bumper

It's one of those things that it's tough to judge how it looks based on photos, but everyone who's seen it in person has said either, "Man that looks good" or "I didn't like it in photos but in person that looks awesome."

And I say that as having been REALLY reticent about if I wanted it, and when I saw it installed on a few other vehicles before mine I wasn't super crazy about it. Now...I dig it a lot!

Funny you say that, the Ford Focus RS is also on my wish list!

I'm "media" since I'm the official photographer, but the RS was on the floor, and they didn't let people into it. I pulled rank and asked for photos, but the rep realized about 30 seconds in I just wanted to sit in it...and possibly lick it and scream out, "I CALL DIBS!"

It was open at the Detroit Auto Show and I climbed all over the inside, and yes I want one too!

Cool truck, but I have to ask, does it even see dirt?

Yes. Often. It's been a godsend since most of where I film is off pavement. Most of those situations are from commercial video shoots and taking photos is considered unprofessional.

It's spent half its life in the dirt.

Nice. Looking forward to more build thread and trip reports:hungry:

That new Pelferty looks great btw

Thanks. Outside of an ARB fridge the only money spent on the truck will be on gas and travel. Moab in June and FJ summit in July.

Not to hijak your thread, but I'll keep an eye out for your orange rig during FJ. If its your first time, its a blast.

I'm going to try and make FJ Summit too! hope to see you there.

Yep. Will be my first time. Gonna make it for sure.

Also we decided ultimately NOT to Line-X the fender flares. Instead we're replacing the body matched flares with OEM stock unpainted flares, which should be more durable in the long run.

Not sure if you saw the group buy on Indel fridges in the group buy section. I know given contacts you may need/prefer to stick with ARB but I'm considering going with the group buy Indel given what I've read and cost.

Link? I'm not married to the idea of the ARB, I just know I want a good fridge and slider setup.
