Man, that sounds like a sweet setup going on there!

My wife and I were hoping to run into you during the summit. We saw you drive by a couple times and we both said "hey, there goes LawnDart!"

Thanks, I gotta sell off some camera gear, and my entire Icon Stage 6 setup to help offset the cost, this won't be cheap.

I will actually be in new mexico come november when I pickup my truck, so maybe we can meet up.

So, Walt from Tactical Application Vehicles LLC will be doing the Long Travel conversion on my vehicle.

Basically, high level, we'll be going to 35 (either Nitto Trail or Ridgeline Grapplers), 4.88 regear in the rear E-Locker, front ARB air locker, total chaos long travel components...and here's the kicker...

King Coilovers AND bypasses. MY GOD!

Thanks, at Rock Therapy EVERY Toyota waved back, including Land Cruisers and Tacos. FJ owners...ugh.

I kid you not, I've seen 2 other TRDPs in the Denver metro (stock, one inferno one white) and I got NOTHING back when I waved. Even rolled the window down so it was clear Where's the love Toyota owners?

Just read your report on the FJS and it was great!

Just in case anyone is interested and you can call me an ass but I don't care....

You can still show up to the summit without a registration. I've been to the FJ Summit with my old FJCruiser many times in the past. The summit area that showcases the vendors is open to everyone. You won't be able to attend the dinners and raffles. The trails are not closed off for the event to registered attendees only. I have done this in the past and nobody gets on you for showing up unregistered. There are some trail leaders who don't mind you hopping at the end of the group to run with them if they have room. It's also easy to find a group of guys that will run a trail on their own later in the afternoon as the "official trail groups" take off early in the morning. This is usually what I do as I like to wake up, eat, relax then head out on the trails.

I will be attending next year and if anyone wants to link up for some "unofficial trails runs" hit me up.

Also, every year a group of us like to get together in Moab, UT before the FJ Summit. We will do a few days of wheeling there then head out to Ouray. It's really fun and there is no cost as this is not an official event. Click the link to find out more.

So i'm of two minds about this, yes show up to town, no one is stopping you. But if you show up on trail runs either go in the morning early or later in the day. We had a few situations where people not part of FJ Summit, but were crashing FJ Summit either slowed our group down or tried to push past ours.

Keep in mind FJS has to spend a lot of time and money to get the permits for these runs, and organization, and if you go up there do not impact the schedules or enjoyment of people who fought to get in to the registration, paid a ton of money, and time, to be out there.

If I can't get in next year I'll crash, but be very respectful for the people who for them this may be their ONLY major vacation all year round. We got stuck behind 4 FJs who were crashing the event, and frankly didn't respect the trail schedules or consider that they were affecting people who were lucky to be there.

Basically, if you crash, don't be a dick about it.

I agree with everything you said. There are definitely d-bags that show up and get in the way.

It'd be like crashing a concert, it's fine, no worries, but don't detract from the other people who paid a lot of money to be there.

They cap it to 350 vehicles because that's what their insurance and permits allow. That's 1000+ people, which is nuts for a town that small. We also share the trails with hikers, bikers, UTVs, and other off-roaders. Some trail leaders won't let you even join up to a later timeslot if you miss your morning run, some don't care, the thing is I see a lot of people advocating going anyways. That's fine, the mountains aren't anyone's to say "you don't belong here." But just don't detract from the experience of people who in some cases drove 3-4000 miles to be there.

So it's official. I'm committed to long travel. This is going to be pretty unique, and a bit absurd. If I'm being honest i'm about to completely change how the vehicle looks and works, and I'm now officially trusting someone a lot more intelligent in the ways of vehicles to handle it.

To say I'm nervous is an understatement.

Maybe I missed it but are you going with LT for the rear suspension as well?

I've been meaning to check out TAV. They are only about an hour away from me.
