If it's just for emergency contact, my dad has a Garmin InReach satellite phone,although it can't make phone calls. it can do just about everything like text to a phone number or to an email, it has GPS tracking so you can track your route or others can track you with a web link. You can hail emergency services with the press of a button. Think it was only $250 with $20/mo subscription.

ACR makes ResqLink,kinda like an "Oh Shit button". Sends SAR your location, I think its about $250 no subscription and good for 5 years until it needs servicing.

Well, that's the thing. It isn't snake oil. It does exactly what it says it will. I have just found that hiking up a hill can get me just as much signal strength as the booster in the cab when trying to go from 1 bar to 3. In that case (like when it is pouring rain), the booster is great. I know of 1 time that it was a life saver. Unfortunately, there were too many times when no signal was to be had at all.

I think you would have much less regret with the $1K on the Iridium phone.
...think of it this way: When traveling cross country or in the wild, do you use your FM radio or your XM radio? Which one has more problems? Which one is more terrain and range dependent?
If I had the cash, the $1K for the Iridium would be a done deal.
I have an InReach and just kick it on when I need it for longer trips/hikes. It really comes down to what you personally need.
Myself, I have people "on-call" when I head out. If I really find myself in the poop, I can send a text to them with the basics and count on them to contact people by phone. Takes a little more work on the front end (me and a buddy have a code system we share). The other upside to text is I'm not counting on their memory. They have a "written note" of my exact problem. The downside is vehicle-to-vehicle comms on trail.
For me, it's a good all-in-one solution to multiple problems.
In the end, there's pro's and con's to anything you use. It's going to all be about trade-offs and personal preference. There really is no right or wrong answer.

It's all good, the video was done very well and did not disappoint. Too bad the seat delete hadn't been done yet.
Definitely going to hit you up on some more details on the tablet mount. I hit some hard washes this weekend and mine needs to be re-thought out and hard mounted.

Nah, I think the straight looks good. Unless I went to a lower profile rack and then I might have done a 50" curved.
We love the OnX6 40" up top on your rig!
Just a note for someone considering Arc vs. Straight Light Bars. The straight bars will outperform the curved ones in most applications.
This is because you're taking a concentrated light beam and bending it with the curved lights. By doing so you will have a less focused beam and reduced long range distance.
