Not that those are bad traits. Not for the desert, anyways. Still smaller than the standard F-150 though. Shorter, but a little wider. (145" wb and 79.9" wide).

The sad thing is that my 4runner is actually 84.5" now with the 35s and +2 kit.
Still super on the fence if I'll be at FJ Summit. Still super burnt out.
Beefy. Pretty close to Raptor width.
I'd love to do FJ Summit myself, but am trying to earn good karma for next year when I try to take 3 weeks (hopefully) to hike the John Muir Trail. I know I could do it in less time, but I'm not a young pup anymore, and would like to actually have time to stop and just chill a day here or there.
Take a deep breath man. You just got done doing something most of us here only dream of doing. lol

That's kind of why I'm thinking of passing. Lovely location, but kind of boring trails, and frankly I'm just really tired from traveling.

That sounds like a good suspension prep, but what about prepping the other 75% of the vehicle?

Considering how badly you beat your truck that's a pretty good mark for Toyota. 4Runners are not designed to do 70 through Baja. It sounds like Total Chaos and King lived up to their racing pedigree. Everything that got trashed is what you would expect. It actually seems like you got off pretty easily.
We're all familiar with the cheesy offroad testing videos where they drive over some gravel and through a mud puddle and then heap praises on the vehicle. What you just did was the real deal and the 4Runner passed. It gives me confidence to push mine a little harder if necessary. Lord knows I'll never pound it like you did. lol.
You had fun pushing your new toy to it's limits, now sit back and smile knowing you built one hell of a rig.

Yeah I agree with that, and so that said, would it not make more sense to but say a brand new F150 XLT and do the mods? LT suspension, bead locks, MTs and what not.

I guarantee Ford did some different stuff with the Raptor chassis that they don't do on the stock F-150. They may come off a similar assembly line, but I'd bet the frame has been altered from a stock F-150. Not to mention the weight savings that's already on the Raptor out of the factory. The engine may be tuned differently also and have some differences.
Now, if you were going to build an overlander rig, or something for less-than-Baja.... sure. Probably would make more sense. But if you're seriously planning on running it hard... I'd do a LOT of research first and try to ID major differences, and make sure I'm starting on the best foundation.

I love the F150... It was between that and the 4runner for me. I don't think the F150 should be in view with all the other garbage that Ford makes, that truck has been around for a LONG time and looks great.
I'm pretty sure that the F150 wouldnt fit in the garage with a level kit and slightly bigger tires. The cab of the F150 is higher than the t4r and my t4r is about 1 to .5 inches from not clearing the garage door.

That may be fair. My pop's '89 F-150 is still plugging along.
Then again, so is his '77 Blazer.

love the old blazers and broncos... I was a sierra guy and had one awhile back, but today the F150 appeals to me more if I had to choose.
I keep trying to get the Blazer. lol
It's the one vehicle he loves, so he's not parting with it. Hell, the only reason he doesn't have the '69 Mach I anymore is because mom killed it.

For the most part, yeah. Half the jeeps were daily drivers, as were the majority of the Raptors.
