My list currently:
Below will fixed by Pelfrey when I'm at their shop soon:
-Replace Front Bumper
-Fix Battery Tray
These I need to fix myself:
-Fix Parking Brake Cable
-Replace Brakes/Pads
-Replace Shock Mounts
-Replace Limit Straps
-Replace Secondary Air Intake
-Replace fuel tank skid with RCI aluminum skid
Then it'll just be a question of when the fiberglass fenders make it out. Once those do there's a big ding in the driver door. And both front doors need to be totally sanded and re-painted since the fenders crunched up into the lower edges of the doors.
I'm also going to be doing a Diamond rear axle with a ford 9.5 diff. Likely I'll be keeping the JAPTOR anyways.
Not too bad - at least you're still able to be out and take advantage of it.
After being once - do you have any desire to do it again - but slower and enjoy the scenery more?
After doing it on a motorcycle last winter, I have a strong desire to go back in the 4runner with Off Road trailer and spend more time on the east coast beaches and doing different trails that were too tough two up on a motorcycle. Right now we're in Jasper and then likely heading south via continental divide so this will probably be our last big trip of the year.
Also, while you mention JAPTOR: did you see ford announced a Ranger Raptor for 2018 oversees? With the Ranger coming here soon, one would have to imagine the Raptor trim would as well.

For Baja, next year I'll be doing the Trail of Missions for sure, unless Cameron hates me and doesn't let me come back. But next year I'll be co-driving a 2017 Raptor. The reason being is that you have way more fun when it's NOT your vehicle getting thrashed up, and you don't have to fret about the repairs.
Also to be honest, I feel like I missed out on 80 percent of Baja because I was so concerned with not flipping the vehicle, when all I was doing was basically staring 50' in front of me, and not appreciating the landscape.
My goal is for 2019 to take the 4Runner back and see if the improvements I've made allow it to do a little better. But realistically for Baja, at speed, it's not the ideal vehicle.
There's a lot of stuff you just don't need for Baja. The biggest one is don't go it alone, go with 2-3 vehicles, don't ever drive at night because it's unsafe due to both humans but also specifically animals on the road, and for the love of god don't drink the water.
To the point of the Raptor Ranger, that's going to be an AU only thing. The reason being is that they don't get the F150 or the Raptor there commercially. They can be imported into AU, but the process of converting them from LHD to RHD is incredibly expensive and time consuming.
The reason the Raptor Ranger won't come stateside is that the cost would be a stones throw away from the base cost of a supercab level F150 Raptor, and having the Raptor Ranger and F150 Raptor in the same market would eat into their own product base. In AU it's not an issue because the F150 doesn't exist there, nor will it. Just like the Ranger will only exist as a gas and eventual turbo diesel here. Also the size difference to me isn't enough to warrant not just getting the bigger F150 Raptor.

Still really smokey due to the Eagle Creek fire out here, but got in what may be the last camping session before it starts getting really rainy. I'm not much of a cold weather camper but I'm going to try doing more snow camping this winter. The trailer may be a nice change, though I won't be able to use the water system since it'd likely freeze.

What about some sort of heat blanket wrapped around your water container to keep it from freezing?

Good question, I don't know how much space is available to do that, and out here it might not even make a difference even at full blast.

I watched your Overland Bound YouTube walk around video last night for the first time. Don't know why I passed on it so many times before, probably 24min length, but had the time last night and did not realize it was you until then.

If you're asking if Trail of Missions 2017 has aired, no not yet. It was supposed to be aired in early September but they moved it to October 8th to avoid Labor Day weekend.
I think we'll probably get a trailer for it...any...day...now. Thankfully I heard the pelican biting me didn't make the final edit, however we did a pretty awesome water crossing that they filmed in slow motion from the helicopter that did make the final cut, and it's just stupid awesome from what I've heard.
Great trip. Next year I'll be riding in the Raptor that is in the ridge photo I posted. I just think I missed out on so much by doing 90 percent of all the driving.

World of X Games 2017 schedule
October 8th on ABC at 3pm EST Noon PST.
It was an awesome trip, a real ass kicker for sure. A lot of the things I thought would break...didn't. And a lot of the things I knew would not break...broke.
