LawnDart's Build Thread

I'm very itchy now, but about 12 hours of filing, sanding, and drilling, and I got these installed. There's a few things left to do such as install the guard insert that keeps the doors from being hit with mud/sand, I need to install the driver side bracket, and then remove both fender, cut off the lower mounts, then cut off the existing brackets, and bolt them on.

Also the passenger side lower corner needs to dremeling to line up a little better.

The guys at MULE cut the body pinch weld way back. SO MUCH MORE ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!

Looking so good, they do good work at Mule. You planning on any type of liner on the inner fender well? I did nothing with my last set of front glass and spidered the paint on numerous spots from rocks hitting the under side.

I'm going to have the inside of the wheel wells and inside of the fenders line-x'd sometime in early january. Just for some more protection and reinforcement.

Figured I'd do a slight update:

Mechanically I only have two more things to fix; the secondary air intake sensor that I busted up in Baja, and a kinked brake line on my axle going into my driver side rear.

Both should be fixed early january when the parts arrive. I'll let the dealer replace the brake line because I absolutely hate bleeding brake systems.

Early January the fenders get line-x'd underneath for some added protection, then it goes off to paint.

New bumpers go on in February from Pelfrey. The rear bumper is just going to be epic. It won't be the cheapest option out there, but it's a solution to every gripe i've ever had with my CBI.

Hey Lawn,

Finally saved up enough cash for another round of upgrades to my rig and was going to pull the trigger on a rear bumper. Aside from some of the issues you had with the rear latch on the CBI bumper could you expand on the other problems you had? Basically, I had stopped off at Pelfrey’s shop last week for sliders and they showed me their new bumper they’re creating and I’m trying to see the pros and cons / your opinion of each before I invest my cash in a hefty purchase. Much appreciated and as always have a great day.

On the PelfreyBilt website I don't see a rear bumper option for the 5th gen 4Runner. Are they making this one custom for you? Will it become available in their catalog?

And same question: What did you have issues with on the CBI bumper?

I'm seriously thinking of getting a rear bumper upgrade with a swing out tire mount so I can show off the spare tire, the 5th ICON Rebound wheel I'll be getting in a couple of weeks.

TIA,
Dave
