how many miles do you have on it so far?
Do you know the approx weight of the bumper with swingarms? it looks like a tank!
No official weight but it's looking like in the area of 200lbs, but don't quote me on that.
That's lighter than a CBI.
Exactly why I know my ass will be dragging with the CBI![]()
That's lighter than a CBI.
CBI weighs 190#. Without paint...
I don't want the CBI dual swing out arms. Only one arm for the spare tire. The CBI looks under-engineered and over-built. Just my opinion of the website photo without better photos of one.
I'm hoping for an aluminum bumper that weighs less than 100#. Aluminum is not as strong or ductile as steel but it would be stronger than the OEM plastic pumper cover. Good enough.
You can't tow with an aluminum bumper. Pelfrey has no plans for anything but a steel bumper. Frankly aluminum has no place on a rear bumper. Just not enough of an advantage and too many downsides.
The CBI is 200 when you factor in the spindles before the swing arms. The CBI is probably the best bumper on the market currently. I'll give them that.
Thanks Isaac,
I hadn't thought of that. I plan to tow a teardrop trailer in the near future. about 1700# tops.

even with significant weight reduction? curious since I still plan on a swing arm rear bumper, but planning to leave the inside mostly unadulterated
Do you think the tires are going to tuck up into the fenders at stuff? Or are you going to need to trim?
You don't need to have ridiculously high cut fenders, you need to have your suspension tuned properly and bump stops set correctly.
