LC Engineering header for 3.0 V6

Question for those who've done it, or know someone else who has.

How much louder do they make the truck? Thanks

Really not a common "upgrade", I guess, as no one has piped up yet.

I think the Doug Thorleys are more of a common upgrade. I'd check over at Pirate4x4 or Yotatech.

I have all stainless steel headers on mine, I can't say if it runs better but I can say it is a lot louder. Mine came as a kit, from the motor to the exhaust pipe so there are about 6 joints and on stainless they are hard to keep together, I am thinking about taking it to a shop that welds stainless, the clamps just don't seem to do the job. The motor was blown when I bought it and I never drove it while it was stock ,

The reason I did it was to get the crossover pipe out from behind the motor. I don't know if was a valid reason or not, but I did it anyway.....

Thanks guys. I did find a couple U tubes that give a general idea of the noise increase. Think I'll keep mine stock.

looking at the design of the stock exhaust setup, you would think headers would really free up the exhaust flow getting rid of that crossover tube. if its too loud with headers, you could always run a resonator and a muffler to quiet it down. also the muffler choice will have a lot to do with noise level. i cant imagine adding headers would increase the loudness that much

I agree, most of my noise is from the muffler and a few leaks from the pipe fittings. The muffler is the original and has over 180,000 miles on it, I am sure with a new muffler the noise will be cut in half. As it is now, driving down the road isn't that bad, with the radio playing and talking in a normal tone it's all good. Once all the small things are worked out I am sure the noise level will drop even more. My son found a vacuum line that hadn't been hooked up and as soon as it was the rpms dropped about 800 rpms, not sure but that may have been one of my gas problems. We will see......
