LC Lift complete, ride not as expected

just got my lc coils put in the rear with sway aways in the front. sitting a little higher in the rear than I like but I can deal with that. my problem is the ride is very "boaty" the up and down is ok. but its the back and forth sway that I cant handle. it feels very unstable. I put on all new poly sway bushing and have the nitro shocks from wheelers. I had these on with my 99 tall coils. dont think this is the problem. I have yet to do the drop panhard bracket. Is this the way these springs ride? or is the bracket that important? I researched this for months before hand thought I went the right direction now I feel the ome rears may have been the way to go.

First off an adjustable panhard will work best for you with the lc coils. Second you need an alignment, badly. That is the reason for the swaying boat feeling.

the panhard bar is that important. you need the drop bracket and or the adjustable bar from toytec. that bar is what locates the rear axle and centers it in the chassis. its what keeps the swaying side to side at a nill. get that fixed and you will be back to normal -of course you will have a tad bit more side to side movement just because you have more suspension travel their for more leverage to work with but it should barely be noticeable if its set up right.

I am curious to see how bad the bounce and sway is. A few weeks ago I drove down to cali and was behind a lifted runner and his rig bounced like crazy and sway like it was going to flip.. It was very dangerous especially at 70MPH.. what lc coils did you get?

X2 on the Pandhard. Your rear end is no longer square with the front end. ANY time you play with the suspension like you have, your first drive should be to the alignment shop. I went for a quick drive after doing mine and though I was going to tip the b*tch over. After alignment it handled better than before. The LC springs are a little floaty. When going over speed bumps, it does wiggle its a$$ a bit. If you do any off roading, your spine will thank you for these springs though.

When I did my lift, using LC coils, I made an adjustable panhard for about $70, I also extended the swaybar links by 2.5 inches front and back.

I wouldnt say Im an expert on this, but as mentioned above its bound to be the axel position. With those coils your axel is sitting probably close to two inches over to one side. Since they are soft coils they articulate quite a bit over bumps, so your back end is sliding sideways pretty far. Since the axel is to one side the body is sliding down and side ways quite a bit over bumps. That would explain the unstable feeling. Thats my theory anyways. I know alignments are important. But Ive done a lot of suspension work on my truck and driven it for a while before getting it aligned each time. And the before and after ride didnt feel any different. Not saying the alignment doesnt affect the ride, but I would bet your issue is primarily the axel position.

I plan on making a bracket to drop the panhard like some of the others have done. also plan on getting new bigger tires. should I wait till I get the tires before I get the alignment or does it matter?

well i defiantly wouldnt drive much after getting new tires till you get and alignment. its one thing just getting new tires, but when you lift and play with the suspension geometry and other things and get new tires ($$$) you dont want to have things "off" so its eats up your new tires... after all the bigger the tire, the more they cost. just my .02

Toyogus, can you post a few pictures of where the rear axel is sitting in respect to the body? Probably the easiest way would be to take pictures of where the tires sit beneath the wheel wells. Im asking cause I have a set of lc 7.75 wraps on the way now. By the way you may already know this, but the easiest way to decrease the photo size is by opening in paint, then resizing with the resize icon on the top left

here is the backside of the runner, the axle may be shifted a tad.

can anyone tell me where to find all the differences between the LC coils for the rear suspension? ive always seen people talking about em, but never paid much attention until now. sorry for the thread jack, but im stacking some weight on there this weekend and need to know about future spring issues.

looks like this is my issue as well except im on ome 890's in the rear. looks like i will need to buy a adjustable pan hard bar now.

My truck was "WAVY" as heck until I had an alignment. Once that was done it was night and day. Dont wait if you care about your safety and tires!

When I did my lift, I had the alignment guy "Just check" my rear tires for alignment, and they were right where they should be.

Just an idea about something to perhaps do also when you get your alignment.
