LC or LX Rims?

I recently purchased some LC rims in rough shape and spent a weekend and about $60 in paint to make them almost perfect. They have about 10-15 layers of paint so they will not be noticeably scratched easily but now i have a chance to pick up a set of LX450 rims in chrome and in bad shape also so im not sure whether i should sell my LCs and pick up the LX ones or jsut stick with wat i have.

If u guys could chime in that would help... Im currently undecided. I have always wanted some LX rims but im hesitant bc of them being chrome and i onw they look great when new but not sure how they will pan out after satin blacked.

I would just stick with the LC's, especially since you just got them painted and looking nice.

lol ya i keep telling myelf i dont need to do more work since these LCs will be tire mounted tom and i should hopefully have them on the 4runner soon.

I jsut nvr see LX rims go for cheap... missing center caps for my set and the LX set tho.

The LX rims are an alternative to LC rims with the latter being more desired IMO. If I had LC rims i wouldn't down grade to LX rims....that's just how I see it. Plus you've already done all the work to get those rims looking nice and you need to get those TSR's on the road!! :biggrin2:

I've gone back and forth on which I like better too and I think in the end, I like the LC wheels better. They're just that much cleaner looking to me. I say keep them.

Here's how I see it, and this is someone who has had both wheels. While I still think LX wheels are more desirable, I also think you've done so much work to your LC wheels that it would be stupid to get those LX wheels. Now if they were in a lot better shape, not chrome and still a good price I'd say for it, but they're not.

I love my LX wheels and don't regret them, but for me I was coming from dirty rock rashed clear coat peeling LC wheels and couldn't justify cleaning them up the way you did.

ok thnx guys for all the input, ya i prob will end up keeping them so i can get it all mounted tom and hopefully on the 4runner also since discount wont mount them on the 4runner for me (wheel spacers).

Ya im not a fan of the fact that they are Chrome since it makes it harder to re-paint...

I would say LX over LC since that's the way I went. I really like the LX rims better since the indent on the spokes add a little extra to an otherwise plain wheel. Since you are dealing with chrome I would stick with the LC's. I wasn't aware my LX rims were chrome (couldn't really tell in the pictures) and it is impossible to get the chrome off without sandblasting or chemical dipping the rims. That means more money to spend. My rims came out ok, but not very great.

Will Discount mount the tires and rims, but not put them on your 4runner? You could just take them home after and mount them yourself.

Ya in the LX pic above i cant really tell if they are actually chrome but in the ad thats wat the guy stated them as so ill prob stay away until i can find a cheap set that are not chromed...

As for mounting, discount tire will mount the tires on the rims but just wont put them on the 4runner for me so i can do that at home though only my hi-lift can jack the truck up enough to get the tires off the ground. The whole mounting it on the 4runner is still up in the air since my friend works at discount and so im getting the tires mounted for free on his day off and ill see if he is allowed to (since hes new) mount them on the 4runner... (at his old shop he could do it for me)

I am scheduled with him at 9:30 am to have the rims and tires mounted so i should hopefully have it on the 4runner tom by noon. I will update my build thread once they are on!

Nice! The picture above is kind of confusing. The front rims looks like the normal colors and the back rim looks chrome. Budget wise the LC's are the best choice. I'm looking forward to seeing the tires and wheels on your 4runner.
