LC100 to GX

Has anyone transitioned from LC100 to GX. Please share your observations.

I am considering the shift to either a GX or 4R. 4R is a great platform, but feels a bit underpowered for towing. We take a trailer from Phoenix to Flagstaff several times per year. It weighs 3,000# loaded. The climb is from 1000 above sea level to 7,300 feet above sea level.

GX would be used. I'm leaning toward 2010 for the six speed transmission. GX470 without nav would be a contender too, but fuel economy would probably be the same as the LC100.

A 4th gen 4Runner V8 AWD is the exact same drivetrain as the GX470, so if one is underpowered for towing, so is the other. If you were talking only about V6 4Runners, then that's another story. GX460 is another animal than either of these, and priced very differently as well, even used.
