and onto the next....
Today, amidst my flurry of high productivity, I washed my truck. While doing it, I noticed that my passenger side sliding window lets a little water in at the top of the rear piece. Nothin major, as I assume it was becuase the water was from the hose and under pressure.
Then, as Im cleaning the inside of the driver side window, I notice a quarter sized looking wet spot on the carpet, kinda deep into the footwell. I know this isnt from my windshield leaks, I have two small ones at each end of the windshield. So I am checking it out and decide to lift of the carpet, which isnt even completely fastened down (ugh, MF'in PO's) and find a good sized rust zone. It is just forward of the plug in the drivers side floorboard.
As I look under my dash to try and trace the source, I see minimal clues, besdies a single drop hanging from a metal bracket (uselss to describe without pic).
I know that my truck has been quite frankensteined since its oct 1986 birth, but of all things done to it, I dont know how to or even where to begin to address a leak like this. Its not a big leak, Ive missed it since I got the truck, but it is causing a rust problem on my floor.
Outside the truck, inside the vents that are just infront/below the windshield, it looks like some ******* (probably the 2nd owner, they fvcked with everything apparently) put some caulking/silicon type of goop in there, and I cant imagine WHY or how they would even get in there.
Im assuming that is where the water is coming from, but its a total shot in the dark.
I guess im just kinda frustrated. I really like my truck, and for $4000 I think it was a decent deal, but **** to tackle the rust that exists in the cab(in the window gutters/a pillars, and now under my gas foot) it would not be cheap. I was contemplating on removing the carpet for a herculining and then re-carpeting but that will have to wait as of now..... ugh
