leak under dash

Just got done with interior and still notice leak on floor from passenger side under dash. Any ideas?

Took all old vinyl out, repalced all holes in floor with new metal, did back floor with Durabak bed liner, way cool, finished all interior side panels with diamond plate alumnium, installed new molded carpet, seats from mid 90's Camry, Grant wheel and did outside rockers with same bed liner, also very nice.

I'm guessing that your AC condensor drain line is plugged. Does it happen when you run the AC or without running the AC? If it occurs when running the AC then look underneath the chassis about even with the back of the passenger front tire. You should see a black tube (~3/8" OD) which is the drain line. It should normally be dripping after running the AC for some time.

Straighten a coat hanger and use it to see if there's any obstruction in the drain line but be careful as the coils on the condensor are very easily damaged. It usually helps to do this after running the AC for some time as then there will be some accumulated condensate which will help clean the line after the obstruction is removed.

I'll check that but I think it leaks after a rain.

Then it could be the windshield seal. The front windows on these 4Runners don't have a preformed rubber seal. They are imbedded in a sealant and then the "metal" moulding is put on while the sealant is wet with little clips which are imbedded in the sealant. It seems to be next to impossible to remove the moulding without damaging either it or the clips. Therefore, it's quite difficult to check the windshield seal without committing to resealing everything.

I've never had a problem with my windshield but I have heard that it is quite a problem to fix a leak if it's coming in from around the windshield glass.

I'll see, I have a new windhsield sitting im garage to be repalced since the old one is cracked. I know what you mean about the clips, I think I will have replaced with universal rubber instead of metal trim.

I had that problem with my T4R. It was leaking like a siv on the passenger side after it rained. It was the seal around the window that was the problem. Put some sealant around the edge the I figured was the problem, and presto, no mroe leak

The leaky windshield thing is a common problem on the 80's and early 90's Toy trucks. A little sealant usually does the job.

How well do the camry seats work? any pics?

The seats work awesome, I picked them up ay a local swap meet for $50. All bolt holes lined up excpet the back inner one, I had to make a spacer for them to work. Much much more comfortable, the only down side is the passenger seat does not slide forward enough for an adult to climb in back very easy, then again, they are not really designed for adults back there, my kids have no problem. I tried to utilize the stock frame so I would not lose that feature but it required to much fabrication.

Sounds good but I need the slide feature to get back and do up the child seat.
