Leaking bushings

That cotter pin and castle nut don't look like they were touched. But the other end by the locknut has definately been touched. Looks like it was extended by 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Did you have alignment done? In trying to free up the locknut they probably didn't put a wrench on tierod end and twisted it to the point of ripping the boot.

Not sure how much tie rod ends cost. Shouldn't be too much. They're very easy to replace. It's something you can do yourself. That's what I would do just for piece of mind.

Ok thanks that's kinda a relief to hear as I thought maybe it was gonna become something serious like the 3rd gen 4Runners lower ball joint failures... I'm also planning to go a little higher on the lift later, would I need to worry about those tie rods after going for a 3" lift?

when they adjusted the tie rod they had to loosen the lock nut on the threaded rod. now if the did not hold in place the tie rod joint then with the torque required to loosen the lock nut they damaged the seal.

that is all new leaks caused by the shop you used . I would go back to them and ***** . put on face book how they broke stuff.

I almost did but when I talked to the guy respectfully, it seemed as if he was already ready to argue or back themselves up & I don't like arguing with people... but I've only heard good stuffs about this shop so idk....

I also don't know if the tie rods were already like that from the previous owner before I bought this Runner because I haven't checked out that part of the suspension till after the lift was done & when I told the shop who did the lift my concern, he just said after lifting any truck, the suspension angles & causes grease see seepages like that on some of the grease packed bushings, etc

well those boots have not been leaking over a few months look like they broke yesterday . if the leaked over a time like more than a month that grease would be very dirty/dusty etc.. looks like fresh grease to me.

you always use two wrenches when you do this type stuff or those rubber boots/balls will get damaged not designed to handle the twisting power to loosen those locking nuts.

perhaps they just hired some new guy from ???? LOL.>>.

Have you taken a small mirror to see if the boots are torn or just squirting grease from the hub being pushed around to install the lift?

Like I said, they are not perfect seals at all and will spurt some grease as you can see the lower balljoint doing so already (albeit in a much more normal an expected manner than the tie-rods)

I spray these boots with silicone . I use the silicone homedepot has . works good on chrome and rubber window / and other rubber like those grease seals. safe for paint and plastics I use it now on my snow shovel .. but that is not what I would expect you to have in your snow removal tools ...

wipe down the grease and see if it continues to leak out if so then you will have to replace .
