I don't know if the stock sport hood is watertight (and I'll try to check later at lunch) but I don't think that would be necessary as some water gets into the engine bay regardless.

yea, i mean it would make sense to use something, im surprised it doesnt have a rubber gasket or at least come with directions how to seal it. the bolt on piece is bad enough, but the little black plastic scoop insert must leak like crazy in a pouring rain storm driving down the highway. i think maybe ill use some clear bathtub chaulk & see what happens, dont know how well it holds up from engine heat tho.

The Hood Scoop is not water tight. I detail my engine every couple of washes, and always have to wipe off the hard water spots off the engine cover...

Yeah I believe its not water tight also. Check out my underhood when all the water dries up. I also notice dried up water spots on top of the plastic engine cover itself. So it must leak on really heavy rain.

my engine would always get wet and the belt would slip and make a terrible noise until i figured out that water was leaking into the engine bay. so i sealed up the scoop and presto my problem was gone.
