Leaking Xreas?

Wondering if this is what i think it is? Hopefully the file attaches, but theres a fitting directly under the steering shaft linkage thats leaking what I believe to be hydraulic fluid.

if those lines go the wheels,then yes, it's the XREAS and yes, the system is screwed. Doubt you will want to replace it with another XREAS. Most like replace them with Bilstein 5100s (stiff ride) or KYBs if you want the OEM ride.

The system gas pressure has probably leaked out too which makes removing it less of a pain. When I removed mine it had no gas pressure, I replaced with Bilstien 4600's and FJ springs, firmer but not harsh.

Yeah, took the wheel off and that soft coated line goes right to the front shock. Unfortunately it has Xreas and bags, so i need to get rear shocks and coils/with the conversion plates.

Start saving and reading up on shocks and springs. The xreas is not worth replacing unfortunately. Most people put aftermarket shocks and springs on and never look back.

I would not replace them with the same one. But what I mean was, if the gas leaks out or fluid leaks. Is the vehicle dangerous to operate or inoperable? This is all new stuff to me and my 4Runner has started to show its age the last year or so. My brake line failed, alternator failed, power steering leaked, and AHC failed...all within 3 months. Nothing in the first 15 years.

My truck is actually from CT as well. Has 106k on it. I had planned to replace it. Just not so soon. I liked having the bags in the back but ill probably do bilsteins and FJ coils.

Oh man this is exactly what i needed to hear! My bags are in great shape and work well under loads still. I woke up this morning wondering why i couldnt keep the RAS and just put bils back there and replace the front struts/coils. Im more excited now.

Once it starts failing it’s a slow process. Nothing catastrophic would really happen. It just starts riding like shit and would get worse. Rip it out and throw it in the garbage where it belongs and replace it all with Eibach shocks & springs.

It wouldn't be unsafe or inoperable. Just a more uncomfortable, harsher ride since your suspension is not providing the cushioning and damping it once did when the system was sealed.

Hahaha oh god, it rides like my 02 with 340k. The shudder that comes through the steering wheel is a riot. I have 5100s and ome’s for the front on the way. Hopefully sitting level with the rear RAS by next sunday
