Leaky sunroof?? Any Help

I went through the car wash today and felt a little water coming through the sunroof seal. Anyone had problems like this or any thoughts on how to fix?

Open your sunroof and look at the tracks from the top. There are drain holes at all four corners. Are any of them clogged? I deal with flood cars on a regular basis and 99% of the time, those resulting from a sunroof are due to a clogged drain. Take care of it sooner rather than later, otherwise you'll have mold issues and possibly electrical issues.

I agree on the drains. You should be able to trickle water down those and see it draining under the car. If they're clogged use a wire or gentle air pressure. Too much air pressure will blow the tubes loose and you'll have water coming through your headliner.

I think its pretty normal for them to drip a little , mine dripped. as long as the drains r not clogged you should be good. changing the seal should help.

I agree about the drain holes, mine every time I went around a corner would spill water onto us.

I finally got up there, and took a look. Yep, drain holes were completely clogged, I opened them up and the problem went away.

Also check where the seal meets the metal on the roof for anything that would let large amounts of water in. I usually clean the metal when I wash the truck with a wet towel. A tiny amount of silicone tire shine on the rim of the rubber seal helps keep water out as well..

A leaking sunroof is NOT normal. The sunroof glass never forms a perfect seal with the sheet metal, which is why there is a trough running around the tracks that has drains. If you're getting a leak, its most likely clogged drains, not the seal (which can be very expensive to fix). I've had 12 year old cars with sunroofs go over 220k miles without any seal issues, the drains just need to be kept clear.

I noticed water dripping through the seal while in the car wash a few days ago. I had recently had the timing belt/water pump done and the tech forgot to reset the sunroof when he reconnected the battery. The sunroof was visibly shut, but not sealed. I opened, then shut it. Then press the tilt up button and keep holding it until the glass tilts back down a little bit (a few seconds). When I shut it after that, it sealed just fine.

The OP was complaining about water dripping from the weatherstrip seal not water dripping out of the channel.
