LED Courtesy Door Lights Not Functioning Properly

Hey all, this may be a basic question or issue that I'm missing, but 12V wiring is not my strong point, and I've covered what I thought it could be, so I'm turing to the collective here to shed some light(no pun) on the issue.

I purchased an interior LED kit off of Amazon, and have all but the courtesy door lights installed, no other problems w the lights.

However, the door lights don't seem to be functioning properly. With the stock incandescent bulbs in, they work just fine, but when I put the LED bulbs in, they either don't come on at all, or are very dim.

I have tried different bulbs in each of the different doors, with the same outcome. The bulbs are seating properly, and have good contact with the terminals, but do not want to function properly.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. I searched the various LED threads, but think I may not be using the right terms to find what I'm looking for.

Check the polarity? I.e. turn bulbs around. Might have installed pos to neg.

EDIT: one other thing; some of the amazon/ebay kits are trash too.... Another thing to consider. But try reversing the direction and see what happens first.

This was a kit from Precision, whom I've used in the past on my old VW Westy, without issue, so I figured they'd be fine.

Polarity isn't the issue....tried that initially. It is almost as though they are shorting out.

Maybe put a multimeter in the harness connector and see what kind of voltage you’re getting? I can’t add much else, but I’m going to be putting my door light LEDs in within the next few days, so I’ll definitely let you know if I have a similar issue.

I'll give that a try at some point, but doubt that is the issue.

The stock bulbs function fine, and the LEDs do sometimes, but will also be dim, or not come on at all, so I'm leaning more towards it being an LED or fitment issue than anything else.

I think your issue is the LED itself. Check the distance between the two metal connections (cathode and anode) that come out of the LED lens and connect with the harness. I had an issue with a few of mine for the interior and all I did was move that metal rod a bit to make a better connection.

But, you are saying that it may be these instead? Where the "socket" actually is?
