LED/DRL - Actual DRL, not Brights

Whats up guys,

Tried to make the title as best to describe what i'm trying to get across without making it like its already out there, because i couldn't seem to find it anywhere. so here we go..

I am upgrading my wifes '19 lights to LED, and i have already bought a set to see how it would look. failed first set. the LEDs wouldn't adjust right in the headlamp. driver side would look brighter than the passenger (the H11s). so thinking adjusting the LED harness to twist it in at a differ angle would do it. cant seem to get it to work. Ive heard also to either adjust the LEDs (SMDs) to 9 and 12 direction. because they are inserted differently that other vehicles, this was said to me.. im hoping to get the correct way how to inserts the LEDs into the hadlamp... so fail 1.

I bought the kit with LED Brights (9005) which are also the DRLs, and they flickered, so i ended up buying the Anti-Flicker harness, which worked! but my wife noticed they seemed way brighter than the original bulbs on DRL mode, figured that was because they are LED and the purpose way to buy then. I tested this out by having the DRL on and turning on the Brights. and they were the same brightness.. that told me the anti-flicker was not putting the DRL in low voltage. i ended up returning everything and maybe starting over by asking on here. by asking a few questions.

What has everyone done with LED? Have any of you used DRL/Brights with LED bulbs and does the Low voltage work during DRL are on?

there are other methods, people have said to use HID for Low Beams and LED for brights. this still doesn't tell me how to do DRL with LEDs on Low Voltage.

Anyone have any ideas? maybe a better option for Better lighting at night? hep!:Cry:

If you're stuck on using LEDs, I can't help you. But for your last question of better lighting options to see better at night and to address your DRL concern, just do the H9 (low) and 9011 (hi) conversions. Everything will work right, focus right and be brighter.

Thanks! Yeah LED would be nice, because i am not wanting to cut or customize the dust shield.

I have seen around about the H9 and 9011 upgrade, and customize the way they fit into the headlamp. but they are halogen bulbs. nothing wrong with that in general, I personally think the LED are a nice upgrade, especially with how fast they react. I have them on my Third gen, and love them. just personal opinion.

I will say if i cannot get the DRLs to be on LED and pull the Low voltage they should be, then i may look into doing the H9 and 9011s.

is there an upgrade for the fogs with the H9 and 9011 upgrade?

Fogs are H16 and I'm not aware of an upgrade. On my '10 TE, I used these Hella H16 bulbs which were great in the rain, snow, etc.

On my '20 ORP, I upgraded to the TRD Pro LED assemblies then put yellow Lamin-X on them to kill the stupid blue-white light that is the opposite of what fogs should be. They are very good lights and project well... very wide pattern and sharp cutoffs.

XenonDepot has LED's with a DRL controller to give you what you're looking for. They're on my list. I've got their HID's for my headlights, but I want the instant bright for my high beams if I'm going to flash them or if I'm switching back and forth driving at night. I don't want to wait for the HID to 'warm up' like my headlights do.

When I had LEDs it took a few times inserting at different directions (9 and 12) plus some height adjustment to line them up. They looked bright, but wasn’t happy driving at night. Especially during the rain.
Finally ditched the LEDs in the headlights, didn’t project very well. There are some good threads on this and a current conversation in the What Did You Today thread. The headlight housing is the main reason for this issue, the way is disperses light from what I have read.
I have been very happy with the Philips X-TremeVision. They won’t last as long as the stock or LEDs.

Im going to look into this. See if that will work. I have been looking at doing the HID for low beams also. so Hoping to do the LED DRL/HIGHs. going to check this site now!

Exact same issue i was having. i ended up returning the LEDs didnt work out well. may check the HID.

I have them in the stock location. Just a halogen bulb swap. No issues with loss of brightness since installing around 6 months ago.

No, I didn't get the Anti-Flicker kit. I'm not sure there was one offered, and I haven't had any issues at all. HID's warm up, and once they're up they're good. I went with the 6K's, too.
I thought it was just 180 for the DRL/High Beam LED's. It was 120 for the lights plus 60 for the DRL module. But I didn't look super hard at it... yet. They're on my list, but haven't been a priority yet.

Damn, that looks good on the fogs!

Just an update. I did the 9011 upgrade on the high beams today. The left side is the 9011 and the right side is the original 9005. Much brighter and not as yellow. And they will dim on the DRL setting.

Installed the Xenondepot low and high beams. I like them so far. No flicker on DRL
