Has anyone else tried LED bulb replacement for the fogs and been very happy with it?

I do not want to replace the entire housing until I look into making changes to the bumper further first...

If you want to go big, I put in a complete housing fog light kit from TRS. Clean cut off, very bright, etc. Just an option.

Yeah... not right now. I just want to replace the bulb for now with something that is brighter (H11), LED, and still legal to have on with my Fog Light relay bypass.

In that case, I've always had good luck with leds from Diode Dynamics.

It's all good. I have always heard good things about TRS. I would definitely check them out, but I gotta make sure i am not going to do some significant changes to the front end first.

I would recommend getting the Morimoto XB LED fog lights. I've had mine for almost 3 years now and have had no issues. The spread, light output and cutoff are unmatched. If you live in a populated area and plan on using your fog lights regularly i would not recommend putting Rigid or Baja lights in that location. You will just blind all incoming traffic and will get pulled over eventually. Those types of lights are really only to be used when offroad, regardless of DOT stamps or what not. They are just way to bright for "city" use.

So, I did end up going with these. DEFINITELY needed to re-aim the fog lights! These suckers are bright. Don't know how long they will last with an external fan, but they have a 3 year warranty. Now my headlights look pathetic...

So, I did end up going with these. DEFINITELY needed to re-aim the fog lights! These suckers are bright. Don't know how long they will last with an external fan, but they have a 3 year warranty. Now my headlights look pathetic...

Looks good! I've been on the fence about going led for fogs because i dont think theres enough heat output to keep the lense clear in the snow. Let me know if you get a chance to test them out.

I won't be back up in the mountains until June/July. So, it will be November before I get to try them in the snow with this configuration.

I agree with you. I doubt there is enough heat as well, but the standard halogens are so pathetic that I didn't notice I had accidentally switched them off for a few days. I use rain-x on headlights to keep the road grime, snow, and ice from building up on them. I am tempted to do the same for the fogs, but the ring on the outside of the lens traps snow and ice anyway. We shall see...

Rain-x is a good idea. I think im going to go with PIAA halogens and see how they do.

Just remember, if you go higher wattage, the heat may melt some of the plastics. You may want to try just going to H11s instead of H16. That alone is a huge jump, and no modifications are needed.

The ones im looking at are only 19w so think they'll be okay. Ive seen some other posts here where the H11 started cooking the reflectors a bit, so ill go led before i do that.

I'm not a fan. I'm not trying to be a D but the hotspots are really bad. The light dissipation isn't how it should. The OEM fog housing are meant for halogen not LED hence the output. It looks decent by itself but if you were side by side of a morimoto LED fog setup it would be a huge difference.. But if you like it that's your rig and all that matters.

The Morimotos are far superior. There is absolutely no contest there. Unfortunately, building a new house in 2016 has my budget strapped down more than a... maybe I shouldn't say that on here...

This is an inexpensive "stop-gap" measure for now. I will be going with the Morimoto xB or the Baja Designs fog kits in the end. I completely agree with the hot spots and the pattern.

I have the Philips 2700K Golden Yellow LED fogs and they are great in the snow....they don't give you that white out glare. I don't think that there is an issue with ice build up....the biggest problem if you live in a snow area is the buildup of salt...that will cut your output down much more than some ice or snow......but like I said...no issues here with the LED's .
