LED Headlamps factory fog lamp issue

So I installed led h4 headlights on my 99 runner, and the fog switch on the headlight stalk now turns on the high beams instead of the fogsand the fogs do not turn on. I thought it may have been the cheaper led headlamp kit so I opted for a better quality kit and after installing it it has the same problem.
I confirmed that the fogs work with stock halogen h4 bulbs in between removing and installing the new LEDs. Does anyone have any ideas?

Try hooking the LED's in reverse and see if they work.

I forgot which thread I saw it on, but I believe you have to do the fog light mod when installing LED headlights. Toyota 4Runner Independent use of Fog Light Mod
Has something to do with voltages and switches, but electrical things are black magic to me

2nd on this, this has been covered/mentioned a few times. I have LED headlights and I did the fog light mod prior to install, and haven't had any issues. Also read a thread where someone installed LED headlights but didn't do the mod and had issues that went away as soon as they did the fog light mod. Tried and true solution.


EDIT: I went and looked at the link offroadxplr shared, with LED headlights you only need to do part one of the mod.

I am abandoning the whole LED idea. Ordered some Morimoto Mini H1 projectors that I'm gonna retrofit this weekend.

I believe the fog lights ground thru the high beam circuit and with LEDs the circuit is no long complete ,( the filament in the bulb is basically a wire.) Since the fog lights turn off when the high beam comes on. So when you turn on the fog lights you're basically energizing the high beam circuit. Would have to look at a wiring diagram to be positive.
