Lefty is coming back!

From my understanding, the older 30-spline chromoly shafts didn’t have the ability to run oil through them, so there were instances where they would burn up and break if under larger/heavier loads. The new 30-spline shafts Marlin just came out with fixes that.

From a user comment 3 weeks ago on Inchworm's FB page, they said they are working on getting inventory levels back up. That is all I have heard.

I would order a Lefty right now if it were available, so if anyone has any intel I'd love to hear...

I would order 2 of them! Lol.. been emailing Marlin every once and a while, last email 9/3 “we will be accepting orders in the next couple months once our build list is brought down”.

Was gunna get on the trail gear Labor Day sale but I’d prefer to wait for Marlin..

Same! I was looking at making my own competing version, but I'd rather have an Inchworm/Marlin Lefty as well! (plus I don't want to finance that level of production - I certainly appreciate both those companies for doing that)
 
I'd certainly hope I'm on the list for one.

My wife just got a Tacobox from them, she's in the middle (or beginning) of putting that in her '96.

What do you guys expect the price tag of one of these to be? Should we expect the manufacturer to sell options already equipped with 4.7 gearsets? That would be amazing.

I’m sure the 4.7 low will be an option; it always has been.

Inchworm Lefty’s were about 2-2.5(IIRC); I would expect Marlin to (probably) sell them for 3-4.

I doubt that is going to happen...

A single case 4.7 lefty needs to be $2500 or less, any more and you are getting into Atlas kind-of money.

It'll probably be whatever Trail Gear's Verso is/was (is that still offered?)

The upsides are that it can be doubled, and it packages really well - under the floor and no need to clock it.

That said, at a certain weight level the Atlas makes more sense.

Trail Gear does not sell the Verso anymore.

The Verso was $2400, if you compare that to one of their standard passenger-side drop 4.7 cases, it was ~$1000 more. One of the reasons the lefty was so expensive was because of the large CNC aluminum housing section (you could buy that section alone and it cost $1200!!!). If someone can get that cost down (maybe a cast aluminum housing instead), I think that would make it a hot item!

And I agree the packaging/fit of the Lefty is one HUGE advantage over an Atlas.

Yeah I always assumed TG and Marlin were using the AA housing on their TacoBoxes - maybe IW should partner with AA to get a cast housing like you suggested...

Or perhaps there is a market for a build-your-own center section (at less than $1200)?

sorry I have never messed with swapping out transfer cases... but having a gear driven 4.7 would be cool.
