I don't know how many horror stories I've read here about dealers screwing up member's 4Runners. Let's start naming them as well as dealers who have done the right thing by members here. I haven't had my Runner back to the dealer yet and for all I know the service department is great. Or it could be a nightmare. I'll have to bring it there for the fuel pump recall and I dread it.
I bought my Runner at Westbury Toyota on Old Country Road in Westbury NY. Anyone know if they have a good service dept or does it suck?

Toyota seattle, good as far as I know.

Magic Toyota in Lynnwood, complete garbage to be avoided at all cost.

Rodland Toyota in Everett has been awesome so far.

Avoid the sales department at Heartland Toyota in Bremerton like the plague. They only know how to take advantage of people who are either not well educated on car buying, or elderly people who are overly trusting. I met someone yesterday who used to work the back office and she said the same. If you’ve done your homework ahead of showing up, they won’t care. Their service department isn’t bad though. They’ve always treated me right.

Burien Toyota is iffy. I had good luck with them in the past but got screwed lately by them not putting in my order on time.

Toyota of Puyalup has been ok. Nothing to write home about, but didn’t feel like I was being screwed (this was 5 years ago).

Working with Toyota of Olympia now. About to take ownership on a new pro this week so we’ll see how that goes. It’s my first time with them.

I had nothing but good experiences, knock on wood!

I bought and got it serviced at Koons in Tyson Corner, VA, the buying process was straight forward, no BS, and oil changes and tire rotation were the norm, no issues.

West Kendall in Miami I go to for service, I also got my airbag replaced under the recall. Excellent job they did, no issues on any service.

Cumberland Toyota in Cookeville, TN is where I bought mine at a couple months ago. I'm only at 3k miles, so I haven't had any service work done there yet. Pretty good buying experience.

I use two dealerships for service, when I don’t do it myself. I have used Penn Toyota in Roslyn, NY and Riverhead Toyota in Riverhead, NY. I’ve had positive experiences at both. Neither were pushy on service items and I thought they did a good job with routine service.

I live in Olympia and have used Toyota of Olympia for maintenance on all my other Toyota’s. However I’m 99% certain they didn’t change the filter on the last oil change because the cap was on there so tight I had to use a three foot breaker bar. Every other vehicle they’ve been fine and honest with the service, including my wife’s Venza which has the same cartridge filter and my old 3rd gen.

Their sales are a little bit iffy. They like to think they’re tough and won’t negotiate worth a damn. I had to get up to leave when buying my 5th gen and told them I’m gonna buy somewhere else. When sitting in the finance office if I-5 Toyota in Chehalis they called back and wanted to negotiate. They still weren’t willing to meet or beat I-5’s pricing.

About the only dealership service I’ll use in this area.

Bought our 1st 4R from Larry Miller Toyota in Peoria, Az (suburb of Phoenix) 10/31/19. Actual closing on purchase took much longer than it should since we had agreed on price etc in prior negotiations. If (IF) I were to go back I’d probably be less patient before I’d walk! Part of it is that we live 115 miles away, but next time I’d keep an alternate ride home on site. Haven’t been back for service yet. Did 1st oil&filter change myself @2600 miles, no issues, easy.

Had my 2 free oil changes done at Carlsbad Toyota in Southern California. They did a good job.

I wouldn't buy a 4Runner from them, however. Not because their sales dept is bad but because they are very expensive. Too many people in the area willing to pay $40,000 for an SR5.

X2 Toyota Seattle. They have been great for service. Also, I purchased parts a few times and while their prices seem higher than other dealers they have price matched for me every time.

Koons is where they forgot to put the lug nuts on my boss' Tacoma which resulted in a catastrophic failure a block later.

Purchase Experience: Toyota of Fayeteville in Fayetteville, AR was a fantastic buying experience. Low pressure and best price I could find. Luckily they were about an hour and a half from my wife's family's lakehouse so it wasn't a huge deal to go pick it up.

Service:

I had a bad experience with an alignment and oil change at Molle Toyota in Kansas City, MO and will not be going back there for service. The parts department and sales department are pretty good though.

Hendrick Toyota Merriam, KS: Had them do a few warranty repairs for me and some service before I started doing my own. The advisors are great to work with and very good about working with you to understand problems from my experience. They also introduce me to the techs and let me build a relationship so that I am able to have consistent service from the same tech and treat warranty work the same way they would treat a job I was paying for. They also did the frame recall on the Tacoma I recently bought and the work on the frame replacement was really good.

Here in Utah, I'd give a shout out to Tony Divino Toyota. That's where I bought my '18. I haven't had a ton of experience with their service department, but my interactions that I have had have been good. And, we have a local Facebook group (Utah Toyota Off Road, or UTOR) and they have been sponsors of it since the beginning, including a yearly gathering or expo.

Through my work, I use Larry Miller Toyota in Murray quite a bit. Other than they seem to be way busy, they are always good to deal with when any of my fleet vehicles need service. But, that 'fleet' word may influence the service I get.

I've heard from others that Karl Malone Toyota is good to deal with, but I've never personally experienced them.

Great buying experience in Kansas City at Legends Toyota. Zero complaints about the service department as well. Would definitely recommend.

In the SF Bay Area:

Had a really good purchase experience at One Toyota of Oakland. Also have had good experiences with the service crew there for some oil changes when I was still under the factory plan.

Had a really bad service experience at Marin Toyota. I had to have the seals replaced on my transfer case under warranty at about 10,000 miles because they were leaking, and it was a complete mess convincing this dealer that it was not my fault, and then they screwed up the repair three times. I wrote a letter to the owner of Marin Toyota complaining, and will never go back there.

Worst Toyota dealer in the Bay Area has to be Berkeley Toyota. I would say doing no maintenance is better than taking your car there for maintenance.

I purchased from Toyota Carlsbad and had to work for a good deal on my trade in and around 7% under MSRP on my 2020 TRD ORP. The sales staff was super helpful and all but one that I crossed paths with were knowledgeable (I spoke with 5 different sales managers plus the floor manager—they work as a team I guess). They were flexible. I’d buy from them again.

One trip to the service dept. so far. Awesome experience! Quick, professional, and a good waiting room. Also dealt with their parts dept. and is equally as good. I’m impressed. And after reading about the oil change horror stories, I’m glad to read you’ve had success. I plan to take advantage of the free oil changes.
