Love the GOBI Stealth and ARB with room.

What exact awning are you using and did you use the Gobi Stealth mounts? I'm looking for an awning that looks very similar to what you have: not too long and fits nicely against the vehicle but attaches easily to a Gobi Stealth.

Bought a James Baroud but it may only work with non-tubular racks. I'm thinking of returning and finding an alternative since I can't find an e asy way to attach it to the Gobi. Two collapsible poles from military surplus store, a tarp, and some tie downs. Lightweight and cheap, easy setup and packup. Can be moved around to whatever side of the truck works best. During strong winds, I'll use another set of tie downs as well.

Years back, I went with the CampingLab awning for our needs. This is the same as the Mombasa, CVT, ARB....really, any of the "bag awnings" and it has been great.

I made my own L-brackets for it, and then used u-bolts to mount it to my Yakima cross bars that I had at the time. This mounting system worked on a Jeep XJ, a Mitsubishi Montero and a Westfalia.

Just this weekend, I threw the awning on our '13, and just used some hose clamps for the one night we were out....yes, janky, but it worked.

One of these days I'll get around to buying the enclosure room....some day.

I have an ARB awning on a stock 4th gen rack. Used universal ARB brackets and drilled into the stock rack rail.

We got ARB 2000 awnings. 20% off autoanything when we ordered sometime in early 2016. We did have one leg break off when it was left out during a wind storm but ARB was quick send a replacement leg free of charge. They have top notch CS and it's nice to live 15 minutes away from HQ.

Awning Mounts

Hey folks,

I was looking for a way to mount the ARB 2000 to my Baja flat utility rack. I'd been waiting for GZila mounts to get back in stock and unfortunately needed a quick solution.

I found these on Amazon for mounting LED bars and thought I'd give them a shot: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LWOIMIN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used three of them and passed the M8 bolt through them, then a split washer, and then the nut. I just got back from a long trip on & off highways out to Big Bend / Marfa, TX. They did great and held on perfectly.

This was a very quick $16 solution I'm very happy with so far. I'll update this if I run into any sagging, but for now the feel like they're going nowhere.

Thanks everyone in this thread and especially those at the start talking about velcro points and [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] for showing the Swift. I almost dropped 375 for a CVT summit awning but after researching the Eezi-awn Swift I'm most def sold on that one for the pricepoint and no velcro nonsense.

I mounted an ARB 2000 to the factory roof rail.. I had brackets laser cut and used T-slot studs.. so i can install and remove without moving the cross bars or removing the end caps.. I have 10 more sets of brackets and hardware [emoji106]

But if you want to go to the other end of the spectrum -- the Alu-Cab awning is the easiest to set up and gives most coverage. It's designed to attach onto the Alu-Cab tent, but it would be easy to fabricate something to get around that.

So many options, and it is enjoyable just seeing what other people come up with. But when it comes down to it, the most important thing about your awning is that it gives you shade!
