I'll chime in with what seems obvious to me. Many of the forum regulars insist on giving these types of threads life by replying with arrogance and sarcasm, making the threads themselves completely useless. In the case of [MENTION=81573]Stifler[/MENTION], his M.O. is outright insolence -- while I've added him to my "ignore" list, I still have to see his quoted nonsense on someone else's response.
I'm of the belief that the way to keep the forum clean is to ignore certain posts and let them die a quick death by getting pushed to the bottom. You can usually tell who's bothered to search before posting the question versus the person that just posts the question on a new thread.
The one clear opportunity here is to create a master 5100 thread. Yes, the lifted thread includes many posts on the topic, but those are now burried within ~2,200 replies in the thread. The 5100 questions have come up so frequently that someone should volunteer to research the forum for all the worthwhile threads (including the many discussions on the various settings with before/after pictures), and create one thread with relevant links that can be added as a sticky. Am I going to step up and volunteer to do it? No; while I've contributed a number of times by replying to some of these posts and pointing people in the right direction, I'm perfectly fine with ignoring these threads when it's clear the person asking the question hasn't bothered to look around on their own before posting a question. I would encourage those forum members that take issue with this type of thread to ignore it and move on, without the snarky comments.

This kind of asshatery isn't unusual on the internet. But a very small number of the old timers like to show the new comers how sophisticated and superior they are. Instead of just posting a link or ignoring the thread, they jump in and the circle jerk begins. The behavior doesn't help the forum grow and none of them would have the stones to behave that way if you were standing in front of them.

I'm sorry as I read this thread I was kinda seeing your point but then out of curiosity I searched "5th gen bilstein .85" and there were the pics. If folks just took a few minutes to search everyone might get along better and the cranky old guys wouldn't have to complain about lazy folks.

Depends on what you consider "level". You can use the fenders but the body lines are not straight to each other and depending on wether you use the fenders, the bottom edge of the body, the window ledge/midline or the frame rails you will get different numbers.
I'd also like to see leveled pics without the other lifts in one place just to see which version of leveled looks best when compared. It may be the same info found piecemeal in a search, but the same info presented differently is sometimes easier to follow.

The OP appears to be new. Appears to want to interact with forum members. Maybe he doesn't know how to use advanced search or isn't interested. That doesn't make him lazy. Of course there are hundreds of suspension and tire posts. But you see this kind of forum hazing all the time from certain individuals. And when you have an offline conversation with the cranky boys, they couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. The problem isn't the OPs behavior, it's the cranky, predictable, response from the regulars.

You forget that those "cranky regulars" have spent the time putting together things like the FAQ's, tire fitment guides, lift guides. Many of them were the guinea pigs for all the stuff the rest of us want to now do to our trucks. Yes they most definitely are cranky but if you spent your time putting that stuff together and even doing all the documentation to help other people save money/time and do this stuff themselves wouldn't you be cranky that someone ignored it and asked for it in a different place as if it didn't exist?

To take exception with your statement:
Those "cranky" "predictable" regulars have helped hundreds and hundreds of people here in all manner from pricing to technical troubleshooting to modification tips. It seems most of the complaining about these bad people comes from people who don't help out much with those who have questions. Low post count guys are allowed to help others. Just sayin'. What, do you want proper help AND a great attitude? For free? Not asking for much huh.

You can't win Rick. I've been a member since January and I've pretty given up on posting except when I am 100% sure I am correct or just to post updates in my build thread. I will do a search in here using every form of word combo I can think of before I post a question anymore. I can't count how many replies I have started in the past week and simply cancelled posting either because I knew someone would have a snide comment about them, or I would be chided for trying to help someone with info that is already in here.
Even my little book joke in this thread died like a lame duck.... :hiding:
I understand the frustration of not using the FAQ data that is available. I like the fact that 1engineer has those links in his sig line. I generally think of his posts as less being rude and more being......... direct. Some others, well not so much. I have helped moderate a small firearms forum for several years and we have the same issues. Most online forums do. I too have gone through the time and effort to create an FAQ with the most asked questions. But somehow we are usually able to muddle through and guide new members to the information they need without implying they are morons who have no internet etiquette. :shrug:
