Leveling kit = CV Joint problems?

I just bought the daystar 1.25" leveling kit and havent installed it yet because of some reservations I have about potential problems with the CV joints. Anyone have issues with the CV boots or joints after putting on a front spacer?

If you have problems with your CV joints, it won't be because of your spacers. Too small to have any negative effects.
 
You won't have problems from the lift at all. A lot of us have more lift than that and have done just fine. Go for it! :)
 
After the install, check your CV angles to be sure...who knows..
But with under 3" of front lift, its just straight.
 
I ordered the Daystar 2.5" front 1.5" back leveling kit from 4 Wheel Parts and got it in the mail today but the package for the rear said FJ Cruiser Rear Budget Boost. After calling the service department it turns out there website is screwed up and matches the wrong part up when you enter the vehicle info.

Anyway they got it straightened out and gave me the option between a 2" rear spacer instead of the 1.5" Has anyone done a 2.5" in the front and 2" in the back? I am wondering how this will look, I guess the rake of the truck will be somewhere between stock and what the 2.5" and 1.5" would be right?

Also, is the actual lift of the truck greater than the size of the spacer or does a 2.5" spacer result in exactly 2.5" in lift?

Since it's the Daystar kit, you'll get two spacers for each side in the front, and the spacer size is not the same as the lift amount. Also, the 2.5" in front and 2" in rear would look fine ... I've always thought that having the front an entire 1" higher than the rear makes it look "right" ... but either way will still work and look great.
 
What if you have a 3" OME lift and then added the Daystar leveling kit? I traded out my leveling when I put the lift on because of my fears of CV joint issues. Was I right in playing it safe? Or could I have both? Not my area of expertise.
 
the 4th gen 4runner's cv's are actually angled up at stock height... so even a 3inch lift will barely make them angled down but if you go 3'' and get a diff drop they will be perfectly straight. go for it man! :)

i really do not recommend this. i tried *part* of the Daystar kit on top of the OME, with near disastrous consequences.

stick with one or the other - don't do both (unless you plan on a lot of other mods to compensate for it ... in which case, i'm still not sure it'd be a good idea).

Thanks, thats what I was thinking too. Thats why I removed the daystar and replaced it with the OME. Its just hard knowing I have a paid for 1.5/2.5" inches sitting in a box =/ Going bigger is always tempting. Thanks for the second opinion, its what I needed to feel right about my decision.

Edit: crap now I saw 4runner8's comment...now I'm all sorts of confused.

i think 4runner8 was just saying not to worry about the CVs with the leveling kit ...

as for paying for the Daystar and it just sitting in a box - why not put it up for sale in the classifieds section? i'm sure someone here would buy it from you!
 
you can not go more then 3 inches without creating a custom brackett lift. if you are 4wd and try to combine lifts it will def. fail.... even 2wd can cause big problems b/c there will be absolutely no more down travel and it will screw up all your driveline components and cause a horrible ride on road, and nightmare of a ride off road. if you want a lot of lift go with a full 3inch with coilovers then a 1.5'' BL

You can get over 3 inches, but not by a lot. I am probably at a little over 3.5" on mine.
 
agreeing with you guys, but i think it's important to emphasize that OME WITH Daystar is not a safe/good combination. go with the OME and body lift. sell the Daystar kit.
 
x2^^ all though if you are dying to add a coilover and spacer together, you might be able to do this but i havent even seen a 2wd try it, so idk.

its a wheelers offroad.com

its a 1/2'' aluminum top plate spacer... means no preload on the coilover that will be already providing 3-3.5" of lift. and will give you 3/4''-7/8'' additional lift.

could work yet idk... i dont think i would wanna try. although its tempting... also they have a 1 1/8'' top plate spacer that wont preload the coilover and will give 1.25-1.5" of lift.... DEFINETLY would not do this with a coilover that will also lift

Gotcha, thanks guys. I was just looking to get a confirmation on my feelings and you both clarified it. As for it being in the box, I do plan on ebay/craigslist or hooking up a buddy. I just havent gotten around to it, so much easier to buy stuff off of ebay instead of sell it lol. Thanks again, I appreciate the knowledge out there!
