Leveling Kit Installation Issues

A few weeks back I was working on installing my daystar leveling kit when I ran into a snag. My drivers side upper ball joint nut is stripped. The bolt is holding firm however the nut seems to be rounded off. This is the one with a cotter pin right below it (yes I took the cotter pin off first). I can't find this nut online however my local dealer claims to know what part I need and can order it for $5, however that was only after an hour of arguing that I don't need a full new upper control arm.

My questions are,

How would y'all suggest I go about getting the rounded off nut off?

And is my best bet to order from the dealer or is there somewhere online that may be better/show diagrams of the parts with part numbers.

Are you using hand tools or impact gun. I had to use an impact gun on mine I was having the same issue. Trust me if you can get a socket on it and get the gun on it that will work. Also have someone hit as your taking it off.

Just looking at the photo it doesn't look that rounded to me, have you been using a 12 point wrench/socket or a 6 point,
if you been using a 12 point try with a 6 point,
it looks like it could be removed with a 6 point, but I'm not there looking at the nut.

If you only have 12 point sockets I would highly recommend you purchase a good set of 6 point sockets, they come in handy with rusted bolts and nuts!!

If a 6 point socket doesn't get it off and starts slipping I would use a good pair of heavy duty vise-grips locked down as tight as you can get them.

Where in S.C. are you located?

I think some parts stores sell a set of sockets by Irwin that are made to grab onto rounded nuts, you can also heat it and try to hammer a slightly smaller socket onto it and use that

I am up in Clemson. I've been using 12 point as that's all I have access too but I'll look into some 6 point and see if that helps.

If you can get an impact gun on it that should do the trick. Hope it works out for you. Keep us posted.

I haven't tried them so I can't attest to how well they may or may not work..but they're call Irwin Bolt-Grip.

Here's a link, I would think you should be able to find them at Home Depot or Lowe's but not sure.

I live well south of where you're at, if you were closer I would come and help you out, never seen a nut or bolt I couldn't get loose in the end one way or another.
