Lexus Vibration TSB and Lifts

Does anyone think that if the Lexus TSB to dampen the vibration was put out for 4Runners that there would be a problem applying it if there was a lift on the truck? I have the TSB on paper that I got from a Lexus service manager, but I don't have an electronic copy to send anyone.

There is currently no 4Runner version of the Lexus TSB. From what I have read there are no plans to provide one. The fix is a costly one and most likely offered to Lexus owners as part of what you can expect for $15000 premium over the Toyota.

a lift will not effect the source of the vibration, and will not in any way interfere with any work you might have done on the driveline.

they can't link a problem with the driveline to a lift, and if they try to, just remind them about the law:

i know no tsb is out for the 4runner. I already have documented the presence of the vibration with Toyota, so I'm not worried about them laying blame on the lift. I was just wondering if anyone was able to look at the tsb and see if adjusting height with coil spacers would not allow certain parts/procedures of the tsb to be applied b/c of things that might be moved in location, thus you can't connect the new parts where they need to go (ie dampener, etc).

if you're experiencing vibration issues, i'd say keep your 4runner stock. which means if you have a lift of any kind, get rid of it. if you have any "rear diff breather mod" get rid of it.

and if you're thinking, there's no way the two are connected bs, tell that to an engineer that would just say, the angles have changed therefore the vibration comes from there bs. it'll be a long battle to fight so unless you have the funds, i'd say be safe about it.

the magnuson act protects for specific issues but if the problem at hand can be somewhat related by observation (such as lift and vibration) then i'd say think twice as you don't want to ruin your chances of getting it fixed for free.

thanks goodtimes. i don't have a lift on it currrently. the dealership has already admitted that there is a vibration there and the regional tech when called by them, stated it is normal for the vehicle. since it is already documented prior to the lift, how can they come back and say the lift would be causing the vibration, if it was there before I put it on? that is unless, the vibration gets worse with it.

Nothing about a lift is gonig to get in the way of any work they have to do. If you're talking about a spacer lift, the spacers go in the strut tower in front, and on top of the coil in the rear. If for some reason they had to do work that required removing the suspension components, they would have the same amount of work whether you had a lift or not. A spacer lift contains spacers only, and those spacers are secured within the coil/strut/top plate tower, so there wouldn't be anything extra they'd need to do or remove if they did have to for some reason take the shock out. (though i don't know why this would be necessary either)

if you haven't installed a lift, then wait until the dealership does whatever they're going to do. that way, they can't just say "oh, it needs an alignment because you lifted it" and leave you with the same vibration. just like Lance said -- it's best not to give them ANY way to excuse themselves from working on the problem at hand, or blaming it on you.
