Wanted to do a quick review/post some pics of my LFD Ruggedized Crossbars. I dont do many of these or have a fancy build thread with all I have done. All that said, Jacob [MENTION=136636]jafrush[/MENTION] at LFD has provided such outstanding customer service and a great product that they stand behind at all costs, I feel this one deserves my time.
The customer service: Long story short, ordered some bars and they were out of stock. They had some with minor "flaws" that had been refurbished they shipped me so I didnt have to wait. Got them and they fit fine with a small tweak to the brackets, paint had a few chips but nothing awful. Emailed Jacob explaining what I had received and also mentioned I decided I would like to purchase a 3rd bar. He offered to send me a new set at no charge and let me keep the set I already had. The set he had on the shelf was also ones with "flaws" but he would send them for now and send me 3 brand new ones once the next batch arrived in a few weeks.
Few weeks went by and today the 3 brand new ones arrived. They were flawless, great paint, great welds, end brackets were perfect. Installed them and they work and look great.
In total they shipped me bars on 3 separate shipments just to make me happy. Not once did I ask for this, complain or hassle Jacob for free stuff. They stand behind their product to a point they likley lost money making me happy. I offered to pay shipping, pay for the 3rd bar, help in some way at all and he never accepted my offer.
Now for the bars them self. Very practical, many holes for mounting different accessories, very sturdy. Love the T nuts and slotted bar brackets so no end cap removal is required. I had my RTT and they held it with no problem. I had Thule aeroblade before. I hated how far they sat up from the roof. These were definitely made with height and practicality in mind. They are close to the roof, but not so close you cant get your hand under them for mounting things and under minor flex there is no risk of contacting the roof.
Only pet peeve of mine is Toyota did not make the factory roof rails perfectly straight, when you have 3 or 4 bars the middle ones sit just ever so slightly higher than the end ones. Not enough to effect anything, but the engineer in me wishes Toyota made the rails straight. Jacob did mention they may be releasing a 4th gen full rack in the near future. If this is true I will be one of there first customers. Another great feature of the bars is they work with the LFD rails , so I just need to purchase the rails when they are released and not a entire rack.
I'm awful at pics, but here is a few. No clue how to rotate them, sorry. I'll post one up of my rtt on them as well once I put it back on.
