License Plate Issue

I have the SR5 with the premium package. So I have backup camera. My question is this, for those of you that have it also, what did you do to your license plate to get it bolted up? Did you notch the plate? Did yours fit behind the camera? I just got a special plate (kinda) and don't really want to notch this one like I did the other one.

5th gen?

I have an '12 LE and bolted my license plate on with absolutely no issues.

EDIT for pic:

When my wife gets home today from work I'll take a pic. Otherwise I have a feeling most of you think I am a moron. It will have to be probably have to be specific to the SR5 with the premium package.

Ok guys here it is. The only thing I can think of is maybe port installed backup camera? It is a '12. See what you think.

So what the heck is up with mine? Dealer installed aftermarket? I bought new. I'll see if I can grab my window sticker and see if it says something.

Definitely aftermarket. You can even see the wiring going up through the license plate light housing.

Good eye. My monitor is terrible but I see it now.

From the pictures - they appear to be different cameras. Yours is more rounded and the other is more square.

Ok so its been driving me Nuts. I went and found the window sticker and it is listed as a distributor installed option. So am I the only one that's like this?

I found my window sticker and its listed under distributor installed options. It works great, no problems in that department. You don't really see it unless you get down eye level with it.

Edit: sorry about the half double post.

Yep, I think most of us have the one like in the picture posted by Natey...have you thought about taking off the garnish and seeing if you can cut a hole in the garnish and move the camera upwards a bit so it does not interfere with the license plate? I would imagine there is probably room back there since that's where the factory camera would be...

Well damn. I feel a little goofy. Kinda thought this was normal. Oh well. Ye now that you mention it I might try that. Don't you have to take of the inside panel of the hatch to get to the garnish?

Here's a great post by Antman, I think it his pictures show you how to get to the garnish panel and remove it: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/92013-antmans-thread-40.html#post1147349

Looks like there's lots a room back there too! Good luck on the mod if you attempt it :)

If u bought the runner new i would take it back to the dealership and let them figure it out. theres no way u should have to modify ur plate to make it fit.
