Lift for a 1999 SR5 Runner

Hey guys, I am a noob, so please bare with me.

Just got my 4-Runner that I had posted in another thread. Always wanted it, but just now got one after I totaled my other car.

But anyways, I was thinking about doing a lift, probably during the summer, but hopefully sooner if I can have the time.

I am not car savy at all, have some friends that are though, that can help me install the kit.

I was thinking about doing a 2"-3" lift and was trying to get some feedback.

I'm a college student, so I really don't have the money to spend on the really good stuff like that Toytec Ultimate kit that runs $1,000. But there is a kit on there at is $300 that looks decent (but I really don't know anything at all haha).

I just really don't know the difference or what is need.

Would I need other things beyond the things that come in the packages? A buddy of mine said maybe a different sway bar, or something along those lines possible?

Any help you can lend is greatly appreciated. And please try to be as simple in your language as possible, as I really am a noob when it comes to working on trucks unfortunately.

Between those two kits, I would go with the second one. The first one is a spacer in the front, which isn't ideal and won't be the best for offroad. It will ride worse on road as well. The second kit is good, but you proabably want the 881's with top out spacer or 883's and 890's if you aren't going to be putting front and rear bumpers in the mean time. You will need to get shocks with them and people typically say OME shocks work best with OME springs. No need for different sway bars. Get the diff drop and an adjustable panhard bar or drop bracket for the panhard bar is optional. Many people don't use them and isn't absolutely necessary right away.

There are many other lifts that people piece together like the Tundra/LandCruiser lift. This thread has a lot of info on the Tundra/LC lift. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/83276-yet-another-lift-question-thread.html You can get it pieced together for around 4-500 for everything.

There are tons of threads talking about this, but it is a little difficult to sift through everything else. Just use the advanced search and utilize the options it has and you can narrow it down pretty good. Hope this helps.

Awesome, thanks for the information. That thread you linked helped a lot more, I didn't see that one.

I was mainly using this one 4runner lift FAQ, as well as some others I stumbled upon and still had a bunch of questions, as I really don't know much about this at all, so that is why I made another thread.
