lift help!

Hey, so I'm pretty sure my bf is getting me a lift kit for xmas but I need a little help...
what's the highest I can lift my 4runner w/o having to rework the suspension?
and body or suspension lift? i told him to get me a body lift b/c i always thought suspension lifts were extremely expensive... but i just found out otherwise haha

Well, you can get a OME (Old man Emu) 3' suspension lift for like $700. Includes new springs and shocks. As for the body lift they recomend no more than 2". I would g with the suspension lift.
 
yeah it really depends on your driving style too. a suspension lift will benefit you all around, plus you get a new ride feel. i think its better to spend the $$ on a suspension lift rather than just the pucks they put up in dare. however of your in for the looks only go for the pucks! either way it will look way "gooder!"
 
Remember unless your boyfriend is installing its not cheap. For the cheapest lift I was quoted 160$ for a 2.5" spacer lift, 280$ for install, 120$ for alignment.
 
my bf is installing, probably recruit sum of my friends too
i saw a 3in suspension lift for $380... i think it was revtek, i could be wrong tho. i really don't want him spending that much tho but personally, i'd rather have the suspension lift. i'll check out the spacers. thanks!
 
Toytec lifts

OME is a great selection.
and so are spacers.

Just remember, the best ride quality you can get, is replacing both shocks and springs up front.

And I would stay away from spacers that just go 'ontop' of your coil over tower. Those will cause a bit more problems for your rig down the road. We sell a spacer that is a split design, keeping most the lift right there in the coil.

Not to highjack your thread but i am interested too. so all you gotta do is put those (Above Picture) on your springs and you have a little bit of a lift? do you do the same for the back? and what are the cons of these?

Smash, I came across lift on eBay for $200 bucks that gave me a good 3 inches of lift. May be able to look at listing by inputting item# in search (150380301922) The FJ80 springs came in OLD MAN EMU box so not sure they didn't come from them to begin with. Front billet aluminum spacers are kind that bolt on top of strut but seem to work fine. I have yet to install diff drop kit. BF and friends should be able to install in half day or so. Make sure to get spring compressors! Also added Nitto Terra Grapplers 285 75 16's and 1 inch wheel spacers. Rides great! Alignment became issue after realizing the rack and pinion was bad. ($773 job) I've yet to replace rear shocks yet as not sure exactly what will work best with set up. Post updates and pics when you add lift!

That kit will actually give you 3 inches of lift. For the 3rd Gen 4Runners, we don't carry a rear spacer. But I do sell a replacement rear coil for the rear. Either 2 inches to level it out with the front, or 3 inch rear coil that will leave the rear high like factory. Cons, not replacing the stock front shock and spring which might need to be.

My original lift was a Daystar 2.5" suspension lift (spacers) for $160.00. But that was parts only. If you BF installs, which will save you about $300, I highly recommend taking it in for an alignment also.
 
so just put new 31x10.5 15s on my truck and now looking for a lift. 2wd 97 runner. looking at 2.5" all around lift. do you think the toytec 3" lift would be too much since im not running bigger tires than that. what would be better 2.5" or 3" for my wheels and tires?

I personally don't think so.
I've got a 01 Tacoma with a full 3 inches of lift and I'm still running the stock 265's and I think it looks just fine! Not to much wheel well space.
 
Well I have a revtec 3" spacer I have only had it in for about a month. 1000 miles. I'm gunna be putting and "ome/lc" lift depending
on when your bday is I will sell them to your bf for about 200. I bought them for 350 let me know

aaahhh he already bought them for me, i'm getting exactly what u have too haha, oh well
