hey all, have a couple questions.
Finished my lift today with, FJ coils, the 5100's at 1.75 and a 1.5 rear spacer. I used the spring compressor-less method found on the 120 site.
Should I have new, longer rear sway bar end links?? I had to loosen the sway bar mounts to pivot it up a little and the end links were still kinda tight, and passed through their mounting bracket at a bit of an angle. I know they articulate a little but was wondering if that's right, I can't see how it wouldn't be due to the lift. They did weep a little fluid from the ball joint on the bottom.
On the rear shocks I had to cut my stock ones off. Couldn't budge the top nuts. The old ones had 3 bushing seats, and the 5100s came with only 2 and 2 new bushings. I started to reuse the original seat that fit on top of the lower bushing but I had trouble getting enough threads through to get the top nut on, and when I did the lower bushing was compressing funny. I took that stock seat out and just mounted the bushinge directly against the frame mount. That sound kosher?
Here are some picks. I'll try to post the lift measurements later.
Still have the stock tires/ I'm getting some 265/70/17' s in the next few days. And, I still need an alignment. Anything look grossly out of whack here? My camber clearly looks out... but I didn't take any pic of that....
Here's the front shock top nut. I tried to make it look similar to the original (I counted exposed threads) but I wound up tightening until I got a good bit of resistance.
Thanks for opinions..
edit: forgot... new top hats on the front too. I just took the whole coil assembly out, those top nuts were stuck too (and none of them were very rusty looking, go figure).
