Lift Question.

Correct me if im wrong. A suspension lifts two things (skid plates, frame,) a BL lift just the body. If i dont want my skid plates to show WITH MY RUNNER BOARDS ON (look stock) with a 2.5 inch suspension lift, would I need a body lift as well? If so, what size?

....????

why dont you want them to "show"??

a body lift lifts the body off the frame. what goes up is the body and rear bumper.

the front bumper stays where it is bc its attached to the frame.

so that wont get you anywhere.

i dont think there is any combo of the two that will hide the skids.

the suspension lift will just lift everything... body, bumpers, skids, everything.

why exactly are you lifting anyway?

it sounds to me like you should just stay stock. i mean if you dont want to look lifted, then going 2.5" up isnt a good start. the BL should only be used if you wanna up your tire size to 33" tires. otherwise, leave it be.

thats sus and body lift

nothing is gonna make you hide your skids.

plus it would look weird anyways if you did.

Like Lee said a bodylift will keep your bumper in stock location inless you get fixed brackets from 4crawler.com (only for stock bumpers)

rear bumper goes up as its mounted to the body (not confused with aftermarket offroad bumpers which mount to the frame where a towhitch is)

take a look at all the lifted 4runners on yotatech.com and here

get a gauge of what you really want to do and go from there, dont impulse this

I want my T4R to look lifted, but when im NOT offroading, i want it to look stock with a lift. I saw a 98 limited at ETSU(college) my same color with a lift and running boards on. It looked nice. Dont rag on me for wanting a lift with running boards on. That does not show class. Maybe I have a different taste then you? If I get a 2.5 inch suspension lift with my running boards still on, it will look stock, only taller correct? I will also be putting on Bridgestone Dueler A/T P265/75/R16's...I want a stock look just raised 2.4 inches..suspension only?

Yes a suspension lift is all you need. As has been said already no need for a body lift unless to want to put bigger tires than the 265/75's
