Thanks in advance guys!! Im not a lift know it all maybe you could help
I have an 07 Limited with Xreas, all stock for now. I want to lift the vehicle and was considering either the toytec 3" front spacer and rear coil combo or the OME kit from their page. I dont do crazy off road stuff, but i do kick around in the mud and snow for fun!

My questions are, will i need alignment post install?
Would i be able to install myself? I do have a great mechanic friend..
What rate springs if i chose the OME package 884/885 front? rear as well? i wont be putting on any crazy extra gear, maybe a push bar
Will either of these lifts eventually cause damage to existing parts?
Finally will wheel spacers, 1.25", cause any long term problems on the truck, Ive read to stay away but i see many members using them

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

If you are just doing the lift for looks stick with the spacer. It is cheaper and simpler. If you go for OME you have to discard your XREAS. 884 for V6, 885 for V8 is what OME suggest if you are not adding extra weight to the front.

Have the aligmen checked post install. Also remember to re-torque everything a few hundred miles after the install. With any lift that alters the factory suspension geometry you increase the wear on components. How much this leads to premature failure is a subject of debate. The same is true of wheel spacers. It sounds like lots of tire shops won't touch trucks with wheel spacers.

:iagree: and the wear thing is a subject of great debate. I consider that encouraging because nobody can produce reliable, statistical evidence that on a T4R this lift range and these particular spacers actually cause failures.

I will also add the post install re-torque is really important after the first few hundred mile after install. Once you've done one re-torque and then checked it again after a few thousand miles that's pretty much it. It'll be fine after that.

Wheelspacers seem to fall into two categories, spacers and adapters. The very popular Spidertrax is in the latter category and are generally accepted as ok. Spacers on the other hand are not well received by many shops. The main difference is the Spidertrax bolts to the hub and has it's own lugnuts vs a spacer which just slips over the existing lugs.

WRONG!!
You definitely can install an OME spring on the xreas shock, as long as you keep with the 884 or standard duty spring. Now granted, its a real pain to keep the xreas suspension and still lift the rig, but it can be done.

I have the time right now to do this project over winter break from school, as well as some $$:bravo: I want to do the spacer life but I'm afraid I'll want to do more in the near future... Im keeping my eyes peeled for a set of FJ springs and rims. My main goal and concern is to not destroy anything in the process and I feel comfortable that these types of lifts are safe b/c there are so many of you guys here on the forums who have already done so.
I think for now m going to just install the 3/1 or 2.5/1.5 spacer lifts, maybe a set of fj springs too if i can get a deal on them.

What are your thoughts on a 3/1 spacer lift and fj springs? How much lift would i get? and would it be a bad thing to combine them? Would it cause any problems?

User BlairB ran that setup. He has lots of threads, specs and pics. Search by username and maybe PM him. He wants to sell the FJC + 3/1 setup IIRC.

Toytec, If i installed a set of FJ C 4x4 springs front and rear. What shocks would be best and what kind of lift would that give me?? Say if used Bilstein shocks from toytec site? on an 07 limited 4x4
Also would need to use the swaybar relocate kit?

we really don't have any advice when you start using old gear from one vehicle to work on another, like this is case. I'm sorry. We just don't peform installs here.

Typically when someone discusses the installation of OME products, they are referring to the shock AND spring combination on order to obtain the full benefits of an OME system.:gun4:
 
NOTE: No my Xreas isnt leaking, i just want the front a little higher to lose the downward nose rake and I'll be getting some bigger meaner tires soon, nothing to crazy though... I figure Im going to want more lift after I put the spacer lift on anyway, actually i know it! lol, so I may as well do it all at once...
 
I recommend the Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer lift. It was fairly simple to install, there are several writeup's and how to's on the forum and I just love the way the vehicle looks/rides post lift. I retained xreas and it isn't too much lift where I have to worry about premature wear.

Just another option.

ZandT4R, Thanks for the input. Did you just do daystar or did you do springs as well. I think im going to try to do the daystar or toyec level kit as well as springs with spidertraxs spacers in an attempt to keep my Xreas... Not ready to drop the $$ on the ultimate lift, plus my truck only has 24K miles on it...
 
Mine was just at 30k. I did the spacer lift only. No springs. When my xreas wears out, if it ever does, I am going to replace it with the Toytec Ulitmate, but until then I am thrilled with the Daystar. I got Spidertrax on the way but only one pair (friend got them for his Tundra and wasn't happy with all the rubbing up front so he sent them to me). I am gonna put them in the front and see what trimming needs to be done and if it is minor enough I will order another set for the rear. If I don't feel like doing all the trimming I am just going to run them in the rear and see how that goes for a while.

SWEEEET!! Thanks all for your input and advice! The daystar 2.5/1.5 kit is sitting in my garage right now with the spidertrax spacer! Big props to Burtman Ind. These puppies were at my door in 2 days!!! Just waiting on the FJ springs to arrive and after this weekends snow the mods begin!!

What tires are you thinking of putting on there? I just picked up an 08 urban runner and am trying to decide what to do, I am thinking of a 2.5-1.5 daystar or the 3-2 cornfed with FJ springs. I am really interested to see pics of different tires on the limited 18" wheels.

BP, I havent decided on tire size yet, I will be using my limited wheels but just not sure about what size. In a week, once i complete my lift and spring install, I will be going to a few shops locally to get some input from the tire guys, also then I'll be able to get exact measurements. I dont think i will go too crazy though, I dont want to do all kinds of extra trimming and body/frame mods... more to come!
