Lift recommendations

Hey y'all,

One of the things I'm planning to do on my runner is to lift it, probably around 2-3".

What are some setups that work well with a 04 4runner. I have absolutely no clue when it comes to suspension.

Any help would be greatly recommended.

This really doesnt help anyone out. It pushes people away from posting anything or contributing to the forum later after they have learned something.

Unfortunately this topic gets beat to death and new threads are created daily from new members on this exact question but I'll be glad to talk ya through any confusion.

For starters, what is your purpose of lifting going to be.. looks?, functionality?, Trophy truck for shows?, to talk shit to jeep guys?

If your going for looks and want to keep the budget low as well as preserve the factory ride. go with a daystar spacer lift. they're inexpensive and most shops can install them without issues..

If your going for functionality, you'll have to decide how much functionality your looking for, Baja racing?, Dirt roads?, or somewhere in between? They have kits that fit just about any need.

Also here is a good site to look into pricing for the different options.

and for a handy tip: if you raise the front end 3" you'll want to add after market upper control arms in the front setup to allow caster alignments to be set back to factory settings.

I'm a huge Daystar 2.5/1.5 leveling/lift kit fan. It allows for 32 inch tire with some easy fender well adjustments (if you also have spacers.) Daystar retains factory ride quality. With a little patience and $135 you can do this one yourself. It is xraes compatible I'm almost certain. It's a system of polymer spacers that sit on top of front struts so it's quiet, soft, and durable. Maybe my favorite thing I've modified on my runner.

Thanks for the advice. My friend has a lifted JK Wrangler so we are kinda in a build off.

Since I don't have 4WD, I'm not planning on going rock crawling with it anytime soon, but the off roading I do go on, I do notice that the car hugs the ground a little too much.

I'm probably going to get the Toytec lift with new springs, shocks, etc.
