Lift selection down to Radflo and Fox, spring lbs and other questions

Hi all,

2015 TEP w/ KDSS

My overall goal is progressive shocks tuned to <= 2.5" to limit/lessen KDSS impact while clearing 285s KO/KM2 on stock trail 17x7.5 wheels without spacers and still maintaining a stock/slight front/rear rake...

I have BudBuilt standard-bump-out sliders and will add BB full skid armor (~200lbs more). I do not "plan" to have front or rear bumpers or a winch.

I'm hoping that I get the better side of their maintenance schedules (50k+ miles). I "plan" to go with camburg/moog joints to further reduce maintenance vs a uniball. I also plan to have a Sonora/TC/Icon rear trackbar to ensure axle is centered to again keep KDSS happy.

I know the radflo's are default 650lb springs, but can be requested as 500, 550, 600, 650, and 700. Radflo recommended 600lb springs for the front given those weights.

My questions for your consideration:

Do you know the default lbs for Fox?
  1. Can alternate weights be requested for Fox?
  2. Suggestions on the spring weights for either lift?
  3. Will Moog provide enough alignment at ~2.5?
  4. Will stock 3.73 gears "work" for those load E 33s? (4.56 just sounds/costs to high)

1. I'm sure you could if you get them from Fox and call them to order.

2. I would personally go 650lbs.

3. It should get you at least 2.5 caster. I would check out JBA also. I (and several others) run those. I have 4.1/4.2 caster.

4. Yes stock gears will work. It will feel sluggish starting off and you will probably see a slightly longer stopping distance. Don't forget about the hit in your fuel mileage. Not sure what wheels you are going with but when I got my load D Duratracs, I bought some FN Six Shooters to offset some of the weight. Even though the weight is in a slightly different spot (closer to the hub), if has helped dramatically.

Those JBA arms looks great! My goal is to keep my stock wheels. Do you foresee any contact issues with 285/70 tire size and those JBA arms?
 
Fox, king... generally only offer one spring for this application.

You can change as you please after you receive them...

650 is what you probably want.

Stock gears fine

Camburgs fine.. also... ICON is coming out with uniball compatible ball joints.... not sure on release date. JBA? I think is another that uses a ball joint.

I don't think you need a track bar... but won't hurt if you add it.

I followed a very very similar path, to address a couple of your questions.

*I would stick with 600-650, my Radflos came with 650 and were fine with minimal weight and are still fine with skids, hybrid bumper, winch, rack, drawers etc. The ride will be noticeably stiffer then stock

*You will not have clearance problems, I have Radflo front coils, Camburg BJ control arms , 285/70 KM2's on stock trail wheels and have no issues

* The alignment is around mid 4degrees of + caster while keeping everything else at factory settings

*The stock gearing will work fine, Assuming you already expect the decrease in milage, noticeable loss of power etc. The only time I really want 4.56 is on the highway, it just needs a few hundred more RPM to be happy and cruise does not work well ( didn't really work great from Toyota either....)

*No track bar, as some else stated, I don't think there is a need

I think I'm down to this config:

Radflo Non Externals with 650lb front springs
Camburg UCAs
Icon rear trackbar (superstitious that it will alleviate KDSS lean)
285 KM2s

While JBAs look great, two things concerned me. 1. The ball join area has a lot of extra metal protruding, and I think it could contact tire on stock wheel. 2. The extended travel it offers sounds like it could cause the shock to over extend and damage.
 
I have Radflo with 700 pound springs with front and rear bumpers. I would not go with 700 without bumpers, stick with the default 650 springs.

Camburgs are nice. Check what kind of bushings they use, I like how the total chaos bushings have grease grooves formed into them to help allieviate noise. Can't go wrong either way.

Not that I can think of, but I'm not real good with offset and what not. I have tons of room with my wheels and JBAs

All those with Radflos: How many miles do you have on your system, and do you have the Radflo clunk? This seemed to be a frequent issue for many when I was researching the brand, but I don't know if it's been resolved or not.
 
what spring you using in the back to lift it to keep stock'ish rake? icon 2"? wheelers posted a link of their new true 1.5" lift spring a few weeks ago.

Definitly interested in this as i'm leaning towards Kings/DirtKing uppers and some sort of rear spring to lift a bit in the back and sticking with stock wheels for now too.


Regarding that Radflo comment....coming from the Titan world, i'll never touch a radflo shock lol. Even though they seem super popular on toyotas
