Just wondering how many of you guys have lifted rigs that you use for daily drivers .... I guess I should clarify my definition of lifted .... 33's ... 3" suspension lift ... 1" Body lift ... Something of that nature anyway ...
thanks for the replies guys .... I am learning more and more that this looks like it could be an EXPENSIVE hobby ...
the key to keeping the cost resonable is to plan what your final outcome is before you start modding. Tires, gears, lift, armour all relate to each other. For example, you may have the perfect rig with arb lockers, 3" lift and 33" tires. But when you add the weight of armour you realize you need different springs or smaller tires or a lower gear. Get it all planned out first, then mod piece by peice toward the end goal. Ok to spread the cost over time, but try to avoid doing anything twice. I'm sure there are guys like me who wish they geared down when they had the diff open for somthing else like bearings or a locker or realize the new tires they bought are not the best size for the lift they want.
Think wholisticly
Mine is lifted 3" and is a daily driver. However, I only put on 32" tires to keep my MPG up. Another option is to change out your gears to help keep MPG up.
