Lifted my 4Runner, now I've got issues.

Hey All, New guy here..reading this thread is the worries i have..just reclaimed my 3rd gen back from wife and kids and wanting to lift and bigger wheels..especially after watchin rip's build up...purely amazing..what what is the best lift set up for about 60-80% road driving..i do plan on towing and having extra weight in front ex..after mark bumper n brush..thanks for the imput

They need to be on the bottom clip. You have too much lift which is causing the alignment to have too little caster

That's a no can do. Otherwise the back end will be way higher than the front. I'm not the first guy to run this suspension combo. I'm gonna see if I can't get them to work out the caster.

Also a set of Light Racing UCA should help things.

I have almost the same setup, even the same tires. I am running Landcruiser rear shocks though. I dont have any stability problems with no front sway bar and the rear still attached.

Let us know what happens after the alignment re-do.

Will do! I'll try to head down there this week.

Its a no can do to run them higher than the 1st clip man. Anything more than the 1st clip is going to put you higher than 3 inches of front lift which is going to destroy those shocks and put a ton of stress on the balljoints and just about everything else in the front suspension.

Trust me, i used to work for toytec and helped design the exact setup you are running.

Plus LC 8 wraps are going to give you about 4.5 inches in the rear. Pretty much any time you run LC coils, you have to accept the fact that the rear will be higher than the front.

Hmm... I'm thinking all this can be aligned out. The new UCA should help as they are made to allow for more adjustments on caster and camber.

What do your LCA eccentrics look like? Is there any adjustment left, or are they maxed out?

I believe there is more adjustment left. Like I said, I need to get her back down to the shop.

Doesn't this depend on which version 5100s he has? Tundra 5100s can be run on the second clip as it is almost even with the Tacoma 1st clip. The tacomas can't be run on the second clip definitely.

I run the tundra 5100s on the second perch and I'm a hair above 3" of lift but that's with full armor.

According to the OP's build thread here. He's running Taco's on the second notch. I guess he just didn't give us all the information he posted on the build thread.

You need to put them on the first notch. It's that simple!

Ahhh. Thanks for the info. I didn't see his shock listed here so I thought there was a chance it was ok (if it was a tundra). But if its a taco 5100 then the second perch is way too tall.

OP, your LC coils will always be tall in the rear unless you put weight on them. I'm only getting 3.5" lift out of my 9 wraps due to my armor, boxes, etc.

If you keep it at the top setting your shocks will fail very fast. Listen to people. If you wanted less rake then you should have ran 7 wraps. Even if it does align out your shocks wont be happy and ride will be harsh.

Where in Eastern PA are you? I can help you fix it if it saves you a trip to a shop. I'm right outside Philly.

I'm about an hour north of Philly, not too far from Allentown.

I appreciate the help but i've set up a few of these strut/spring assys before so I don't see it being an issue, although if I run into a problem I will surely keep you in mind!

Thanks!
